Last weekend I had a conversation at a bar with a guy I've known for awhile who's a few months away from becoming a liscensed anastesiologist(did I spell that right?). Anyway, he's a rugby player and we got into a discussion about athletics lifting etc... We then got into the discussion about gear. Because of his field he's got extensive background in chemistry and biology. Our conversation in a nutshell was as follows. He said he isn't totally against the idea of doing gear, and he's read alot of research studies on testosterone lately. But he said he wouldn't do them right now because of uncertainties he has about the effects, I beleive he called them systemic reactions but I could be wrong-I'm getting my degree in M.E not biology or chemistry:-). Anyway, to get to the point, he said that there is a good possibility while on gear that the body may metabolize the gear in ways you dont' want it to, like forcing an internal organ to grow an extra piece protruding from it. These growths can then turn into cancer down the road. I told him that I'm primarily sticking to lower doses, so he said than that my risk was substantially lower because I work out hard and my body would be able to metabolize most if not all the gear correctly, leaving none left over for the body to do other things with. I'd just like to say first that although this guy brings up some interesting points, I didn't necessarily believe everything he said. First, we were in a bar, he was decently taken care of. Second, although he's a nice guy, he some times likes to act like he know's EVERYTHING. He once told me that lower than 12 reps would deterioate my muscles and create tears which would hamper my lifting capacity. So that's why I bring this conversation here, I'm hoping there's some bro's here with background in chem and bio who might have some ifo. By the way, this guy by no means has deterred me from beginning my next cycle as soon as my needles come in.

No, I think he is not correct on that assumption. The different metabolic pathways in the body will break down the gear eventually, no matter what the composition is. There are specific enzymes in the liver and other tissues that break down testosterone and other synthetic substances that are foreign to the body. To date, I am not aware of any gear that does not break down in body. If there was such a substance, then it could very possibly cause long-term toxic effects. An example of a non-metabolizable substance is DDT (the pesticide), this substance can not be processed out of the body, hence it will cause permanent long-term damage. Answering your question about organ transformation, I do not believe that would occur from any gear, in fact I've never even heard of this. Cancer, on the other hand could occur only if you were predisposed genetically for cancer, not necessarily occuring from the gear itself. All you have to do is look at what the general public "thinks" they know about AS already. For instance, how many times have you heard some dumbass say that steroids will make your dick shrink? Anyone here ever have their dick shrink from a cycle...even a long, heavy cycle? Your testicles may shrink, but thats only temporary (and preventable I might add), but most people would swear that steroids will make your nuts shrink permenantly. We know that these common misconceptions are wrong, because we are intellegent people who do research on such issues before ever putting something in our bodies. The point I'm trying to make here is that, yes, I am sure that long term, systematic abuse of steroids can be harmful (as with any drug). But, don't you think that if guys were growing new lobes on their livers, and a third lung from AS use that the media and every dumbass in the world would be talking about it? Take this guy's advice with a huge grain of salt brother. He's probably right that AS use has caused some sort of strange side effects in some people, but I bet aspirin has done the same for certain people as well.
