It's one or the other my friend. Look skinny and ripped or big and fat. To drop weight....go on a diet and do cardio just after you wake up on an empty stomach. To look big and ripped....train hard for another two years and then go on the diet and do cardio just after you wake up on an empty stomach. Hudson

You need to learn as much as you can. Get on those books, magazines. I grew up off of FLEX, the rest are BS, Muscle & Fitness is good too. You have to learn how to eat, when and how long to do cardio. If someone gives you an answer to your problem it's easy to forget. You have to learn it until you can teach it. Be eager to learn about it. Now to answer your question. Do at cardio at least 3 days a week for 45 min on a early morning empty stomach or immediately after weight training. With that 21% bf I would do cardio 5-6 days a week twice a day w/ plenty protein and working out 4 days a week. Take it w/ a grain of salt and good luck.

If you want to loose fat you must use more calories than you consume...simple as that. Somehow I doublt you're at 21% bf. That would mean you have very little lean body mass at your weight. If you were to get down to a cut 7% bf you would weigh around 120 pounds. I would foccus on building lean body mass before you think about cutting up. You can't build significant lean body mass and loose a significant amount of fat at the same time...chasing your own tail...you'll never catch it. To add mass you must consume more calories than you use, contradictory to what is required to loose weight. So you can see from that fact that it's not going to happen. You can preserve your lean body mass while dieting through proper diet and supplementation but you (no offense) are small. Work on adding lean body mass and as the amount of lean body mass goes up your fat % will go down...But you won't get cut at this point.

I agree with Beezers. If you are 21% bodyfat as you say, eating more wont harm you as long as you continue to lift and do cardio. Its easy for beginners to build muscle and lose fat at the same time. The only recommendation I would make is to cut down on that cardio and do more lifting. Too much cardio and you will just be burning fat and muscle. Lifting weights burns fat too.

eat cleanly, be sure to get enough food so you dont loose too much muscle, but dont eat too much, be sure to use weights as well as cardio, do cardio after weights, try avoind carbs late at night, drink water..... |
