he had 315 on the smith machine doing squats. First of all, i know thats childs play to most of you, but I could just tell that it was too much for him before he even started his set. I admit, my legs are weakest part of me. Anyways, he gets under it and starts squating..well, sorta. He would only slightly bend his knees..and i do mean slightly. I was embarrassed for him. I think he was just trying to show off or something becuase i was bigger than him. Anyways, this guy was a prime example of someone using way too much weight. There is always at least one guy in the gym who is using too much weight with shitty form..you guys know who im talking about. Just thought id share.

I laugh at people like that all the time. There is this one guy in my gym that puts about a dozen plate on each side of the leg press. He barely bends his kness, pushes with his hands also, and has his son standing next to the machine helping him push up the weight. lol

i think its amazing what an ego can do to some people. why not just bite the bullet- be a man- do what you know you can do? there is nothing achieved by lifting in that manner. its hard to grow when you have alligator arms!

The only thing worse than people doing partial squats the way you mentioned is tall skinny guys that weigh about 100-120lbs and are doing high reo sets of tricep kickbacks with a 5lb dumbell. Then during there rest set theyre asking everyone around them why they cant gain size or strength.

I know exactly what you guys are talking about. However, sometimes movements like that are helpful if you're doing it on purpose. I work on the squat rack sometimes for bench. I go super heavy and just do press extension (like the last 4" of the movement). Then I move the bars down for a longer movement. Then I take them out and do the full motion. It's good for shocking the muscle. A lot of people do that for leg press too.

ive seen people do partials before also - but usually after they have exhausted the muscle fully. to start this way is kind of counterproductive, dont you think?

On the smith machine, I can undestand him doing that movement, doing knee bends maybe after doing REAL squats on the REAL squat rack. But anyone on the squat rack doing doing knee bends get no respect from me.

i saw 2 clowns this week at the gym both doing dumbell shoulder presses. Using 45lb dumbells hahahaha now i know they were small and every one has to start someplace but the grunting the growning like they were 250 lbs jacked and thowing up 100lb dumbells gets better always the smashing and clicking on each rep slamming the dumbells together and then on the last rep does not place them but throws them from shoulder high to the floor. If i had been any closer that little fucker and his friend would have been pulling dumbells out of there asses.

I think leg press is the most abused lift there is. I see guys loading it up with 12 plates per side doing partial reps and acting all bad. Then there is me next to them doing them as deep as I can with 6 plates per side and they give me a wierd look. I would rather ger an affective lift with less plates, I hate loading them all up and then having to put them all away.

I hear ya!

There was this skinny middle eastern guy in the gym a while ago with pencil thing legs that did the same thing. He starts by announcing to everyone how he's going to squat 315 pounds. A bunch of us walked over to the squat rack because we we concerned that he was going to kill himself. He then tells us "no problem, I do this much weight all the time!". We're all kind of shocked, so we stick around to see what's going to happen. You guessed it - he gets under it, lifts it off, goes down about two inches, puts it back, and yells "yes! I'm stronger than all of you!"

Without a word, we all turned around and went back to working out.

There's a guy at my gym, who has trained for years. He has been told by countless people but just will not listen. He arches his back up on flat bench so much that you could park a double decker bus under it. When he occasionally does inclines he id really doing flat as his backside is completely off the bench. When he curl he gets an olympic bar and puts 30kg on each side the swings the bar up in a snatch type movement. He squats so that his back becomes parallel to the floor and that is about all he trains. He never gets any bigger and is always having injuries. He also talks and talks and talks and has a cheesy grin and curly permed hair and I do believe that I shall kill him one day.

Last summer at my gym i was squating. Of course ass to floor and a bigger guy came in the leg room. He started squating. Not even close to parallel and kept adding more and more plates to show me how much bigger he was than me i guess. Eventually he ate it and almost broke his neck. I though it was pretty funny because all he did was prove to me that he was a JACKASS!

This summer I was at they gym and I was doing tri presses with freeweights at 120lbs for like 10 reps and keep in mind I was only 19 and 160lbs and this big guy comes up next to me when I was done and asked if he could work in. I was like alright and he was sizing me up the whole time.

Then I asked if he wanted a spot he said he didn't need one so I said ok. Just stood there watching him he barley got it over his head struggling and dropped it on his sholder, didn't even get one and fell to the floor. He screamed it was so loud! I tried not to laugh then he got up and hobbled to the locker room. He looked at me and I just smiled it was funny as hell. What an ass!!!

Me too - most of the guys at my gym only perform about half the rep on the bench, squating, curling, whatever. It's a global phenominum, I guess most guys just hit the gym without any training/advice/knowledge.

Don't let it get to you though - just remember they'll have to do twice what you do to get big!

Hey MASSMONSTER, I'd much rather be that bigger guy who couldn't do even one rep- I don't care if you were 120lbs and really strong...it wouldn't matter one bit outside the gym. I'm talking about chicks here. Everybody would look at that bigger guy (if his size wasn't due to fat).

On the other side as a powerlifter I frequently do partials and people stare and laugh at me. I mean I know I'm doing partials. It's especially bad when I do isometric deadlifts where the object is to load a bar that you have no chance of even moving and you pull on it as hard as you can for about 5 seconds per set. People think I'm crazy.

My friend at the gym... I tell this rat bastard all of the time that he is only doing a partial rep and is not accomplishing anything. He weighs 165 soaking wet and continues to put like 275 on the bench and do it for a one inch rep. My other friend and I both hit 315 for a few reps. This champ gets under the bar and says to us help me lift it off I just want to see what it feels like. What an asshole!!

These are pretty funny and like everyone said it describes about 50% of people in my gym. There is this one guy, I call him neanderthal man cause he looks like one. He is a big dude about 6'4,240lbs. He looks natural. Anyway he only benchpresses never anything else. His first rep puts on 4 plates each side and starts. He bounces the weight off his chest so hard that his chest caves in at least 6 inches, he looks like he's gonna give himself a heart attack or something. One time he actualy got stuck with the weight on his chest and it took me and my cousin to get it off. I died laughing, it was just too funny.....Idiot.

he really think his arms are gonna grow doing

i see that some of you do partial sqauts and thats okay if youre doing them for a purpose and know what youre doing, but this guy had no clue. His legs would of snapped if he would have gone down further than 3 inches. I was doing dumbell shrugs while he was squating. When he finished, he started doing dumbell shrugs..of course i moved onto another exercise. His shrugs were horrible too. He would have his arms bent and when he shrugged, he would almost curl..using his arms rather than his traps. Ive never seen such poor form. I never give advice to anyone unless they ask for it, because i dont really take criticizm that well and dont like to dish it out, but this guy needs serious help.

Don't get me started! Has anyone ever seen how some guys use the Smith machine as a crutch? They pile on too much weight so they can't lift it if they are standing directly under the bar. So they move their foot position way forward so they are leaning back at a weird angle and using leverage or some weird shit to help them "lift" more weight. This is always some pencil neck guy, and then half the time he'll finish up this non-leg-workout by doing about 40 reps of calf raises. Funny thing though, they never grow, because you gotta eat and train right! To say nothing of steering clear of the herniated disk you're gonna have after trying to squat 4 plates a side with your feet way out front like you're trying to learn how to waterski or something.

This comment is not meant for the women. Generally speaking they do it with correct form and a lighter weight. Big surprise! But good form or bad I can't get too upset about seeing a female doing squats...

It sounds like we have an epidemic here. These people come into the gym see people such as yourselves and try to lift stupid amounts of weight and think they are actually getting a good work out, its terrrible. I saw this one nummy who comes right beside me while I was doing 120lbs dumbell shurgs which is fairly heavy for someone my size. Anyhow this fool comes up grabs the 150's and starts rolling his shoulder instead of pulling back'n'up or forward'n'up or just straight up. First of all the idiot can barely and I mean barely even hold these and now he was rolling his shoulders so I try to give friendly advice and tell him to not roll his shoulders for injury prevention sake and to grab a weight where he can actually do one rep without bending his elbows and jumping to get momentum. He freaks out and starts trippin so I tell him that if he would like we could settle his little problem outside, needless to say when I got out of the gym he was already gone. I HATE ish TALKERS!

My gym the clowns are a minority I glad to say but you still get the odd one in. Ego's should be left outside and if you are in the gym training goals are to improve yourself and if you can offer genuine advice to assist someone else, do it, same if someone offers you good advice, use it. Even 7 time Olympia's take advice.

These are the hamsters running on the spinning wheel of the gyms money making scheme.

If it werent for there stupidity, the gym wouldnt be there.

Look at them and encourage them to fuck up more often, the more idiots we have the better gyms we will have and the easier it is for you to look good.

You should encourage them to cling on to that little bit of blind hope and belief that they have that they are getting somewhere nowhere fast.

Funny eh
