my roommate had double inguanal hernia surgery repair back on halloween. he is STILL not 100%. he lost around 15-20 lbs and is very depressed about the whole thing. leg presses did him in. (aside from being genetically predisposed to them.)

Thanks bro's. Mine is inguanal (botched the spelling) Low and small, I caught it very early, in fact its become an assembly line operation, the surgeon will do 4 that day, and he is a lifter himself, thats what makes me feel good about the whole thing. Per his instructions 2 months off, then buid up from 20 pound dumbs. My only concern is self control, not rudhing back like the fucking gorilla I am. And of course having my bottom half fall off. Thanks again my brothers..I'll call you guys when I need a spot. Natural-Mike

Yeah you'll be alright man. I had the same surgery done mid december of last year. the only diference is that I waited till the last minute to get mine taken care of and now I have a good 4-5 inch scar above my nuts. anyways, you'll be able to get to the gym withing a month after surgery. The doc told me I could go in after a month had passed and that i was limited to what i can do. Well....3 weeks came around and i couldnt take it...i went it and had no problems. It wasnt until 6 weeks after the surgery where i could get back to the same intesity. I also lost about 20 lbs and i still havent gained all that back yet. good luck bro

Good luck, I have 2 of them in 7 years. The first one was repaired without mash and gave me a 4 inch scar. Then seven years later broke apart while jogging on a treadmill of all things. Got the mesh the second time and by laproscopic. Much better procedure. ------------------

I had an umbilical hernia repair 11 years ago. The doc put the mesh in. I took enanthate right after the surgery to speed recovery. When I went to the doc 3 weeks later, he couldn't believe I had already healed. Anyway...I only missed 6 weeks from the gym. And never had a problem again. Good luck and wish you a speedy recovery.

Natural Mike, good luck bro. I had mine done 4 years ago with the mesh. I had to hobble into court four days after to get my divorce. I wasn't missing that for anything. I took a good 3 weeks until I felt normal enough to do everyday stuff. Take it slow bro. Enjoy the pain meds. ------------------

Dude, if it ain't to late you might want to reconsider. I had a very large hernia repaired a few months back and I was working out (slowly) 2 weeks later and full strength in 5 weeks. I wouldn't let them cut on you. Very few surgens still do it that way. Most do it laproscopic. When they cut you, they have to cut thru a good layer of muscle to get to the hernia. Then they'll probably sew in a piece of propylene mesh and the sew you back up. Done that way takes a long time to recover and has a 10% chance it will reoccur. Mine way done by a procedure invented by DR Peter Fan, MD in Hackensack ,NJ. I found a local surgen in my city, told him about the procedure. He called DR. FAN and talked on the phone about 30 minutes and found out it was a somewhat simple procedure. You'll only have 3 small scars about 1/2 inch long in your lower abdomen. What they do is simply go in thru half inch tubes(laproscopic) place the propylene mesh under the hernia, and screw it to your pelvic bone. Done this way the reoccurance rate is less than 1% It was done outpatient and I drove myself back to the doctor for a check-up two days later. I promise you if you do it the old fashioned way you'll regret it. I can give you Dr Fan's phone number if you like. He has a web site but I forget the address. If you go to www.msn.com and type HERNIA REPAIR in the search you should find it.

Don't worry it's no big deal. I had one 5 years ago. Just hope that they use permanent stiches inside and they overlap the muscle. I went to a place in Toronto called Sholdice. They specailize in hernia operations. There were people from all over the world, even those who had the operation already (muscle ripped that's why you need perma stiches to hold the muscle together). Anyway good luck |
