Mods & Vets, Given all the recent concern over security, busts, and libel, I recommend we make a policy of only responding to members who have a secure elitefitness.com email address. With all the mail we receive and the Fed's use of Carnivore, I don't think it is a good idea to keep responding to insecure mail. I've done it for a while but lately it seems that the more we push for security, the more mail I get from AOL accounts. I want to help out everyone who mails me but I feel MUCH safer when someone emails me with an EF account as opposed to an AOL account, Operamail account, Yahoo account and even ZipLip account due to the fact that someone I knew had his account deleted by them because they knew that they were being used for illegal activities. How the hell could they know what it was being used for if it was so secure? Let's start sending member's having insecure email accounts a message asking them to switch to Elite's Stealth Messaging. I started this a while ago but a one man army isn't going to change many people's opinions. it can't hurt having secure e-mail but how much is it realy gonna protect you? if the guy on the other end is a fed. agent it will make no diference what e-mail you use as any fed. agent can get an elite fitness e-mail account when you say libel are you talking lawsuit? I would think it would have to be the guy on the other end of the e-mail to bring a lawsuit just my 2 cents, not trying to create a scare ------------------ | ||

I use ziplip, I could never get hushmail to work properly. Ziplip has worked great and I have never seen in go down. ------------------ | ||

Sorry guys, but I answer anyone who will email me. I am only giving out information (not source related) so I don't see a problem. I will agree to start encouraging a switch to encrypted email though. | ||

And for those that can't use hushmail or EF because of the script (their browser will not process the Java for one reason or another)....I guess they should just be left in the dark and told to fuck off. | ||

Hey mean one, I don't agree with the beginning of this post that says only answer if they are using elite mail. That just sucks!! But as I said I had trouble with the java scripts also and I went to www.ziplip.com and it works fine for me. Hope it helps you. ------------------ | ||

Well George, thanks for the reach out. Unfortunately, it was not myself that I was refering too. I was refering to all of the college students out there who use school based services to access information, on which the browsers have been automatically set up by the administration to not allow some java scripts to be opened. I however, feel that no email is secure, for reasons I have gone into before. If someone wants your information, they will have it...it's only a matter of time versus dedication. | ||

I'll give this a bump. But to be honest, law enforcement folks can use hushmail, PGP etc just like the rest of us. The only thing enforcing this type of rule will do is to ensure safe transmission of the e-mail. Hushmail, ziplip and even stealth messaging has to escrow primary keys upon subpeona. | ||

I think the main advantage of Mr. H's suggestion is that it will prevent the Fed's from using Carnivore to read your email. George, from what I hear.... The US Gov't can monitor ALL communications through their Echelon monitoring system.? Another named similar system is used in the southern hemisphere, or so I hear.. | ||

It's just one more step to make it harder and harder for them to take the time to process a bust. I've always believed that we as BBers, athletes and such were always a cut above your coke, crack, meth, selling dealer over the net type of individual. The more we do to make there job harder, increase their expenses, and less rewarding (as in small busts - no head lines - no promotions) the more they will fish in a different pond. Like everything else, they have budgets, time limitations, and "quotas". Lets not be the tasty frosting on the cake for them to make an easy snack of. Lets be that ass nasty smelling scum stuff that protein shakes turn into when you forget it and it sits open over the weekend when you went away. Take the time or do the time. I mean if you can't even figure out how to do some BASIC security, WHY the hell would I give you a trusted source??? ------------------ Lobo | ||

carnivore is an e-mail program that feds can use to monitor a suspected criminal's e-mail to check for illegal activity...i seriously doubt it is being used on suspected steroid users...how bout murderers, rapists, etc. ------------------ | ||
