I have always been very impressed with his physique. I was trying to find some info on him on the net but with no luck. Wonder if anyone knows of any links that refer to his training, interviews, ect ect.

he trained very light with lots of sets and low rest intervals. he never trained to failure either.

pre-contest he would follow a no-carb diet.

Does anyone know what happened to Serge? I haven't heard or seen anything recently.

He used extremely high volume training, sometimes training 8 hours a day (he would occasionally nap between sets). He used pretty light weights (eg 225 for bench) and preferred to do slow reps.

When dieting for a comp, he used a keto
diet--several pounds of red meat and salad with oil dressing. When not dieting, he would eat one enormous meal in the evening before retiring, sometimes exceeding 5000 calories.

Thierry Pastel used to follow th same dietary and training principles.

I remember reading how he would only train his abs with one excercise at a time.Instead of doing a lot of different movements for say 50 reps, he would pick one and do say 500 reps.Great abs, probably his best body part.

Serge was Awesome! Even though he was way before my time I've seen many pictures of him and watched him in "Pumping Iron". His genetics are unbelievable; small joints, huge arms and chest with a tiny waist. If he was a bodybuilder of today's era with the advances in "supplementation", training, and diet he'd put Flex Wheeler to shame
P.S> I find it hard to believe that he only used 225 on the bench with the size of his pecs, but I guess it's possible with his genetics.

Guess it has to do with the concentration and effort you put in it. If he worked it extremely slow and with total concentration i'm sure he made it feel like 405 ect.

Juan, while it is true that Serge used 225 for bench, he was supposedly capable of benching over 465 for reps. He used the light weights to allow the slow movement and extremely high volume that he preferred. Also, if I remember correctly, he didn't squat at all after his first couple of years, using leg press instead.

I read that they werent going to allow him in the 75 O because he was in some pornos. Then Weider got off his high horse and let him in about 3 days before. Maybe he thought he would beat arnold! He showed up looking good anyway. Good bodybuilder. I thought Bertil Fox should have been a MR O along the way but I guess he fell off too. He was one large dude.

WC, where did you hear about the porno movie thing? If that's true, that's some funny shit- I thought he was just an actor in regular french films.

yep, the porn thing was true. They were vague and just said he was an "actor" in pumping iron though.

I cant recall where I read that, but it threw him off. He said "Well, Im not competing now" and went off his diet, etc. Then they called him and said to show up, so he did, but I am willing to bet he would have looked much better than he did, but he looked awesome. I dont blame him for being pissed about the 75 O. I think that Arnold woulda won nyhow, but they billed it as Lou versus Arnold, and it wasnt. Lou was 3rd.
