After an mri to check for shoulder injury they said it is tendonitis. What do I do to get rid of this if I can or am I struck with it for life? The doc wants to refer me to an orthopedist. Is it worth my time? Will shoulder injects of deca help heal this? What gear will help? Thanks bros. IP: Logged |

Yes it will go away. You have to take it easy on your shoulder for a while though. Go see the orthopedist -- he'll probably give you a shot of cortizone which would help a lot, especially if it is severe. Deca helps mainly with joint pain and does not cause localized healing. ------------------ the alpha male IP: Logged |

ARghhh cortisone shots are useless and will only help in causing future problems, if your doc wants to give you cortisone shots tell him to go to hell!

OK, we have it from an expert that cortisone is only good for future problems. I guess doctors don't always have a bodybuilder's main interests in mind. so just take it easy on the shoulder. Rest Ice Compression Elevation. Just ice it a couple times a day. Take an anti-inflammatory. ------------------ the alpha male IP: Logged |

I would have to disagree with the cortisone shots being useless. If they are over done they can be detriemental, but I have had them and with great success. The problem is is that someone gets one, he/she starts to feel good again, and instead of allowing time to heal and using proper rehabilitation, they go at it again 110% and just aggravate the problem. If they didn't work they wouldn't be used. And there are a miriad of different chemicals that can be used instead of cortisone. See your orthopedic doctor, if he is worth anything he will explain all options and not be to quick to inject you. chesty ------------------ IP: Logged |

Cortisone shots overall are not effective. From someone who has chronic back pain but can still put in a great workout at 39. Tendonitis, and other joint related pain should be treated by a combination of training changes, diet and lifestyle adaptations. Elbow tendonitis used to kill my training, especially when i felt fully ready to get past a certain weight in an exercise. No pain with regular weight, added 5-10 lbs more on a side for skull crushers and the weight went up pretty easily but son of a bitch the pain just exploded! and the joint was WELL warmed! I pass those plateaus better now by getting a little more rest for my arms as they are used almost every workout. Also ive adjusted my grips and elbow positions slightly and the pain is almost nill. The elbow stiffness the next couple of days is a pain though. On back, regularly during the day getting off my feet, shoe insole support and an expensive orthobed have made a lot of difference-and no analgesics at all! ITS ALL ABOUT KNOWING YOUR BODY AND TAKING THE TIME AND FOCUS TO DO SO. IP: Logged |

I got rid of elbow tendinitis through intense deep fiber massage. It hasnt come back since. The Doctor said massage wouldnt help, I guess that puts him in the Dumb fuck doctor category. I agree with the bros on Cortisone shots being ultimately worthless. IP: Logged |

i just got rid of my elbow tendonitis in record time - a combo of not doing the exercise that hurt it (preacher curls), takeing 4 allieve every day, and taking a bunch of evening primrose oil - which is known to be good for tendonitis. IP: Logged |

I've battled with tend. for years. And even after taking a year off training it still comes back very easily. Ive learned to work with it now though by changing my work out schedule by only doing the exercises that hurt it once a week and taking Ibuprofin but remember its hard on the liver so watch combining it with other things that stress the liver.
