Here's another post to help ya out in your quest E2... (Keep in mind this is OPINIONated) 2 stories. Cardio and abs on top floor, Muscle work on 1st floor. Break the first floor into 2 sides. One side have all around body equiptment, but more geared for Legs, Chest and Back. The Other side for Arms and extensors. Even though each side will have some of the same equiptment, It helps in making the place feel alot bigger and centered for goals. It helps others to know how to set up there routines instead of them just wandering around aimlessly from one machine to another. Equiptment to be sure to have in my opinion are these...(depending on size) At least 2 or 3 Cable Cross
The Perfect gym... How would you want it, and what would you want it to look like? ------------------ IP: Logged |

I think you could mix some free weights in with the cardio and if the gym is quite small have it open-planed. In my gym I am the ONLY girl who uses the free weights room. Because of this I get quite a few unwanted looks and when I first started out it can be quite intimidating! Mixing the two may encourage more females to give BB a go!! *Y2Kylee* [This message has been edited by Y2Kylee (edited March 23, 2000).] IP: Logged |

I have to agree with Y2Kylee,my friends and I train with a female also and I think it's best to keep the weights open,so not to discourage the women from enjoying the benefits of free weight training.Plus,it will keep the egotistical J/O's who feel intimidated by women, from being J/O's to them. Also, maybe invent a device that could hand heavy DB's to you for your sets.My training partners and I each grab a DB and hand it to each other after we get into position for our presses etc.. The only problem is after a couple of sets, those 150's that your handing to your partners start to feel like sets of deadlifts for the spotters after awhile. Maybe I'll just quit and take up ping-pong or something LOL! IP: Logged |

Open Plan good mixing the sections good, too. Keeps everyone fresh. Sometimes I stumble into a machine I fogot about (that one back machine that pulls from a 45 dgree angle above your head) but we need at least one hundred more squat racks. And a set of dumbells that weigh as much as a man. AND AN UGLY SECTION!!! ------------------ IP: Logged |

Lots of corners would be good too and go easy on the mirrors, blokes tend to use them to stare! :b -------------- IP: Logged |

Hey...No dissin the mirrors. The more the merrier. I like to watch my form in the mirrors, as well as use them as a sly way to look at chicks. IP: Logged |

Hey there E2, been keep'en an eye on your sitch. But have kind of waited on the comments to see how others respond. We (partners and I) built and set up an 18k sq. ft. gym in So. Ca. We secured one mil in private/personal financing and just sold to a major corp. So if you have some questions I'll try to lend a hand. Late Lobo IP: Logged |

I like the mirror idea - more the merrier because let's face it, girls look too. Only other thing I would ever ask is that there is enough of the important stuff - squat racks, maybe 2 or 3 sets of dumbbells at each weight (particularly some of the lighter ones)..... hell you've been going to a gym forever - you know what to do......good luck!
