First, a recent study found that it didnt help men fall asleep any faster, and now a Harvard study has determined that melatonin isnt the antiaging miracle its cracked up to be. Researchers measured the blood levels of the hormone in 34 older subjects and 98 younger subjects and found no significant differences. "Our results show that the pineal gland doesnt produce less melatonin as we age.

It's not meant to be used as a sleeping pill, and it probably has no real anti-aging properties. It's used to adjust your circadian rhythm, so if you sleep at odd hours (eg shift workers, people who fly a lot), your body will think it's daytime when you wake up. I've been using it for this purpose since 93 and it's helped w/ my schedule. The jury's still out as to how much melatonin production decreases as we age, but it should be noted that you can only produce it when there is no light hitting your (presumably closed) eyelids, so if you have to sleep in a lighted space, supplemental melatonin can help.

i must say that this study is wrong, because it puts me out like a light, whenever i can't sleep, i take one, and i'm sleeping like a baby 15 min later, but i guess i'm weird because i can't sleep on fullmoons unless i take some melatonin....for real....it really freaky.....

MY MELATONIN RESULTS:

1. one tab knocks me out pretty fast, and sleep is deep and it's hard to get up in the morning.

2. I took 6 tabs once just to see if you truly could get a crazy dreams. Nothing. felt the same as taking one, I was a little disappointed.

3. one time with a half tab, I had a hallucination. Scared the shit out of me, but I rode with it. I saw the Trio from Casper the Friendly Ghost. The weird part is , I never saw the movie (comic books, yes) three dee giant puppet ghosts in my bedroom.

4. I'm not kidding

But back to the topic, I don't care what any study says, Melatonin knocks me out and keeps me there. Placebo effect? Schlacebo effect.

3mg. usually knocks me out! It seems
that I always wake up at some point
in the morning WIDE awake and if I get
up at that point I am fully energized
all day. On the other hand if I lay back
down and go back to sleep I am impossible
to wake up and feel like shit all day.

btw. killer vivid dreams!
