![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() personal prefernces aside, is there a better time to workout? morning/afternoon/evening? Because of my schedule I workout at 5:30am, always on an empty stomach. Is this bad? Should I change my schedule so I can hit the gym at 5:30pm? thanks IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() bump this because I too would like to know. I think it's in the AM because of the additional "natural" Test in your body. But what about rest and energy levels? [This message has been edited by Michael Gigante (edited March 21, 2000).] IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() It's ok to work out that early on an empty stomach as long as you fill it up after you work out! Do you have some protein or something before you go to bed? If not you should! ------------------ IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Morning time rules for several reasons: 1. You kickstart your metabolism and start burning fat right away as a result. But always put some protein in your system within an hour of lifting. deltman IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I've read that the best time to workout is in the late afternoon, early evening. This is because you already have about 4-5 meals in you and have enough cals (which equals energy) to have an intense workout. ------------------ IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() i'd like to get a scientific answer on this, the p.m point about calories being loaded up makes me a little curious. tri ------------------ IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Yes, because you actually are expending calories throughout the day.........each meal covers the next three hours. deltman IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I've heard that the best time of day to work out is not always the same for everybody, because it depends on what time of the day your body temp is the highest. I'm not sure where I heard this, but it seems like it makes some sense. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Well, if you have the greatest amount of hgh release in your sleep and the most test produced in the AM and all the energy from meals in the PM then I'd have to say that working out after work in the PM is best. Your body will begin it's recovery while you hgh and test is high in your sleep! In my opinion test is more important during recovery rather than preworkout! Anyway, I usually train in the afternoon/early evening! ------------------ IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() i have some metrx when i get back from the gym. an hour later i have another meal and eat every 2-2.5 hours thereafter. Im about to start a cycle and was thinking of setting my alarm clock so i could wake up at like 2:30 am and have a metrx and go back to bed. Anybody do that or think it'll help you to grow? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() For fat loss early in the morning right after you've woken up, it raises your Resting Metabolic Rate RMR for the day. Thereby allowing you to burn more calories just by sitting on your ass. For Strength about 5pm for most people, that is if you haven't been working all day and are tired from that. For competetive athletes it has been shown that they give their best performance about 5pm. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This is my first time writing in. everyone seems to have some good theories.my opinion is probably pm. glycogen levels are at the lowest in the morning before you eat. So theoreticaly working out on an empty stomach woundn't be optimal.however if you ate some carbs about an hour before you train this should raise glycogen levels and enhance energy. Also test levels are higher, but so are cortisol levels thet balance each other out. It's your bodys way of maintaining homeostasis. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Yeah joker, Anytime I wake up at night to take a piss or whatever, I always have a shake while I'm up. Only takes a minute and you've put a stop to the muscle-wasting state you're in. Just don't wake everyone up with the blender!!! LOL deltman IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I ran across a study in the journal of strength and conditioning or something like that which a study was done and it showed that the subjects forearm strength was greater in the afternoon around 4pm and lumbar strength (back) was also stronger at this time. Its no wonder i can't squat or deadlift worth a shit in the morning. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() In an article in a medical journal, im sorry that i cannot remember the volume, there was a study done at Harvard University. It was a controlled experiment with over 300 athletes. Overall, after numerous tests of testosterone levels, energy, strength, etc., it was said that the optimal time to workout is between 3-5pm. If i can find the article i will post it. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Morning. 9:30-11:00. out of the gym and into the grocery store, home for lunch. Afternoon nap, get up play with the kids, make dinner, off to the Dojo. Home, eat again. That is what works for me. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Morning time is the best if your goal is to drop bodyfat because of the jump start on your matabolism. One of the biggest overlooked downfalls of morning is that the body takes several hours in the morning to lubricate the joints with synovial fluids. This takes a toll over time. My oppinion is the best time to work out is whenever you have the time and energy. I prefer ealry evening. IP: Logged |
