I was just wondering how many of you guys keep documentation on the exercises, sets and reps that you do, including time between sets. I actually started doing this about six months ago, and it seems to really help you identify whether or not you're making progess. Also, with my upcoming first AS cycle, I am very interested in seeing the difference in my performance. Anyone here agree? deltman IP: Logged |

I used to keep a journal when I first started training for about 5 years. Helped tremendously. Now that I'm older and wiser, I train by instinct, although I always try to push the maximum amounts of weight I can. Since I'm not trying to set any world records or anything anymore,I don't subject myself to the heaviest weights possible all the time. Besides, you can only get so strong IP: Logged |

Yes, I think it helps me stay focused. And I don't always go heavy either...........good to get the high reps and the pump that goes with it too! deltman IP: Logged |

I used to keep one as well. i train by instinct now. i can remember most of my weights that i work with, as for reps, i would rather not remember them from the past. its like someone saying they are going for 5 and bang out 4 real well and then magically stop at 5. thats my take on the rep thing. i try to just go balls to the wall and hope for the best. its a valuable tool though, cycle time it may be worthwhile to do something like that, just to guage progress in an actual lbs/time frame way. i may go back to it when i "get serious"<wink wink> am starting a 4 week mini cutting cycle tomorrow, i will do bf test periodically to see how im coming along. we'll see. but all in all documentation is good, just sometimes time consuming at the gym. peace!!! ------------------ IP: Logged |

Thanks for the response bignate, I also document my weight daily along with my body measurements weekly. However, I must admit that has become somewhat mundane having hit a plateau for awhile now. I'm ready to juice and get the pen busy then!!!! I don't ever want to be complacent. deltman IP: Logged |

I've used a journal for the past two years. I sometimes go back and use a routine I've used before, so its handy. I warm-up for 10 min. on the sationary bike before hitting the weights so I fill out everything: my routine, sets & reps, supplements used before work-out, weight, any info.by the time I'm done writing, I'm done on the bike, goes by fast.
