Man, this is the last straw. My gym sucks. I go in there today, ready to do some abdominal crunches on the lying ab machine, and they got rid of it! Did'nt even get a new piece of equipment! They said it was taking up space and it did'nt work anyway. I said to them, "Did'nt work?, than how did I get these?" No one really ever used it because they never took the time to learn how. The crunch has such a small range of motion, and the only way anyone can get anything out of that machine is if they are isolating correctly. No one ever used it because "it was too easy" they said. Man, every person I saw would put some crazy amount of weight on it, and insted of doing a crunch, they would end up do a 90% arm pull. The only workout anyone ever got on it was an arm workout! So they got rid of a dam good piece of equipment for nothing. I may have to drive 30minutes to get to the Golds Gym, but I am just going to have to do it. FUCK THESE "FITNESS FACILITY" MANAGERS & THERE NO IT ALL ATTITUDES. They want people like me out, and this is how they do it. I would'nt be quite so upset if they would have needed to make space for something new, but they fully knew I loved that ab machine, and just decided to get rid of it. I stay to myself, don't really talk to anyone unless they have something to say to me, and overall, this is where I speak my mind. This may sound rediculous, but remember my discrimination against bodybuilders post? Well, I'm the only bodybuilder in my gym, so I guess this is their legal method to get me to leave. IP: Logged |

I left one gym because there was no air,and when I went to the new gym,They said they didn't allow the use of chalk. So I carried a bag around with the chalk inside all summer and snuck just enough for a set. When it got cooler, I had to go back HOME,to the old stomping grounds. These franchise gyms are becoming too fitness like, too many worthless machines that don't build muscle. You should have seen the looks on their faces when we loaded up a bar with four plates and squatted ass to the ground for numerous working sets. I think they thought we were from another freakin' planet.I'd like to think we're just intelligent lifters with a love for hard work and heavy iron IP: Logged |

i know what you mean. the "fitness facility" i go to will not allow deadlifting. yet they have those racks for doing stiff leg d.l.....go figure. theyre trainers are a joke, i know because i have anatomy class with one of them and he had to ask what part lactic acid played in muscle contraction and also asked after discussing the illiotibial band...."so where is the I.T. band?" hmmmm. oh and heres why i posted...they got rid of my...MY donkey calf raise machine...heh heh. sucks that the majority of those who could benefit from it are the reason they get rid of them. its too hard etc. but bodybuilding is all about shock and adaptation so i guess we trudge on..... peace! ------------------ IP: Logged |

I still think you should open up your own gym... Open it up right next door to your current gym. Set up several lying abs'. Undercut their rates. Put the bastards out of business. I'd be cheering you on! ------------------ IP: Logged |

I hope one day to have a facility where I will cater to the 20% of people who consistantly work out. My theory is that your adds must appeal to the 3/4 of people who workout. Within a year you can take that 3/4 of your "EXERCISE FEVER MEMBERS" and pretty much assume that 1/4 will be delinquent, while the other 1/4 will quit after the year. So out of your 100% of members, 3/4 will either quit or be delinquent. 10% will be your dedicated regulars, and the other 15% will be your "Consistant EXERCISE FEVERS". You know the people who train at NewYears, beginning of Spring....However that portion of your members are the ones that will continue to pay. Maintain the equipment, hire qualified vets.....Keep a clean facility..etc...I think eventually this catering to the non athlete shit will hopefully stop once they realize that everyone quits because they get frustrated they are not getting results. ONE DAY GENTLEMAN, ONE DAY......and I will open one up right next to those M F'ers. IP: Logged |

I used to go to the Y and work out, but it just seems to me that most of the people there are just wanting to socialize and "tie up machines". It really is a joke, so I went ahead and invested in a home setup, and it's quite comprehensive. Alot of people need the motivation of belonging to a gym to keep them focused. Personally, I love to have the peace and quiet of home, I just crank the hifi and go!!!!! LOL deltman IP: Logged |

I tried two fitness facilities. And I saw more flabby people, pencilneck geeks and non-athletic people there than I cared to see. Hell, I would see folks there for at least a year with no results. And the bullshitting (socializing) made me sick. So I said, "FUCK IT." I live in a one bedroom apartment, so I converted my bedroom into a mini gym: squatrack, bench and exercise bike, and decided to sleep in the living room! It aint much equipment, but it's a start! I am about to quit my gym, the owner is a freak, and treats his trainers with disrespect. He accuses them of stealing his buisness, charges them 30% of their fee to train a client and wants 300 bucks a month for the privelage of training clients there. And he just put a row of lockers in front of the only damn mirror in the room for posing, now we ain't got shit. ------------------ IP: Logged |

I feel pretty lucky, I started a landscaping company last year, and it really didn't leave much time for training or motivation for. I dropped 3.5g's into gym equipment, and my basement now looks like golds! I have a chin/dip station. I have a flat, an incline, and a decline station. I have a power rack for squat's, deads, and rows. I also bought a preacher bench. I have a few adj. flat benchs and ab stations as well. I got 400 pounds in plates and pro style dumbells 5's-110's.(will get more when I can afford). IP: Logged |

Seems I am not the only one who is sick of the run around at the local gyms. Their all in it for the money and fame, not for the sport. At my gym I can't even bring a gym bag in. They think I'm trying to steel weights everyday to build my own home gym (lol). I need a good gym with nothing but weights and good music! If you find it, holla at me. ------------------ IP: Logged |

SOUNDS LIKE A GREAT SET-UP VDEVIL. I HAD SOME EQUIP. IN MY LOWER LEVEL, BUT THERE WAS ALWAYS SOMEONE COMING OVER TO SHOOT THE SHIT. YOU KNOW THE GUYS THAT DON'T LIFT AND CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY YOU CAN'T TAKE A 15 MIN. BREAK. A FRIEND OF MINE HAS A KICK ASS GYM ABOUT 15 MIN. FROM THE HOUSE. SO I TURNED MY LL INTO A HOME THEATER AND I HEADED TO THE GYM. WHEN I GET THERE ALL I HAVE TO THINK ABOUT IS HOISTING IRON. GOOD LUCK E2. I MIGHT TAKE YOU UP ON THAT OFFER. IP: Logged |

Vdevil, that sounds supa fly! I work at 4 gymns in my county, and it kills me to see them spend $8,000. a piece on f#cking eliptical trainers, and not have jump ropes, or medicine balls, or a little dirty corner for deads and cleans. What a joke. The managers get sent these big flashy brochures for new equipment and treat the whole process like buying clothes "whats in, rather then whats worth a damn!" BTW how about those damn hexagonal plates. Was it really that hard to grab the round ones? You ever tried to do a deadlift with them, or even a high pull. Yes, I know good for shrugs, etc. But please DONT TAKE ALL MY ROUND PLATES AWAY. ```````````````````````````````````````````` IP: Logged |

Gotta go with vdevil Never have to wait in line. Don't have a bunch of fatties standing in my way. Stupid classes with dame music so loud you can't think. The only problem is no spot!!! Can't screw up or it realy sucks. If you have the space and the money do - alot of nice equipment out there. You can even look at used. P.S. My wife has put on 12+ lb of muscle in the last 10 months - would have done it for that. IP: Logged |

Listen to "trainer" story. At my gym I was enjoying a "pop a hemmorriod" session of squats, so by the time I get to my seventh set I go all out. I am in so much pain that I am fucking screaming, blood vessels in my legs are exploding, Yall Know what I mean. So anyway this fucking chicken legged trainer comes over to me and asks me to keep it down because I am disturbing his client. I swear to God I about ripped his legs off and shoved them down his anal retentive ass. But, I dont hold grudges! (LOL) IP: Logged |

My local gym owner is a fucking prick. I'm half his clientel when I'm home. Here at college, however, most of the people are there to socialize and stare at the chicks who are on the running/stair machines. Most guys go in, do one set of curls, bench, bench, raise their back and do some more bench with two spotters. What ever happened to being serious about lifting, but having fun while doing it? ------------------ IP: Logged |

another little add on to add grease to my fire... i went to my "fitness facility" (doesnt rate to be called a gym) and found a brand new shiny painted up donkey calf raise machine.... what was wrong with the old one??? the other one was cool, it had WOOD on it, now thats old school. and it also had pegs on the side to put plates on!!! i guess it intimidated some of the members, when i would put on 3plates each side and bang out 15-20 reps screaming on the last 8....LOL!!!! FRICKEN PANSIES!!! alright im done being mad at my fellow fitness members....sigh. is it wrong to ask the fat guy to get on the machine now because there is no place for plates??? i guess only if i ask him to eat more cause im getting stronger!!!! LOL!!!! keep your head up bros, adversity makes us strong. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Yeah- that's the way a gym should be, for lifters, by lifters. The gold's I go to is pretty cool, atleast the emphasis is on free weights vice new age machines. I would love to join a hardcore ass gym where you would have to be screened to be let into. No fucking pussies allowed! IP: Logged |
