I am just wondering how long you guys go in between meals? I go anywhere from 1 1/2 after a N-Large2 shake to about 2 1/2 hours after a heavy meal. I know your body can utilize a maximum of about 50 grams per meal, but I want to know how often your body can utilize the protein we consume? Do I have to wait 2 hours, 3 hours? Could I eat another 50 grams of protein 1 hour after a previous meal? ------------------ IP: Logged |

Big hurt I know it should be 2-3 hours... but which one is more accurate? Going every 2 hours one can get more meals in a day then every 3 hours. But if your body isnt ready to utilize that protein in 2 hours then your wasting your time eating that soon. Does this make sense? I though of this because I need to start comsuming more calories. Recently I hit a growth plateau 4 weeks into my cycle. I (and the board) figured I needed to eat more calories. When I looked back at my diet, I realized that I was consuming the same amount of calories being 193lbs as I was when I was 178lbs. Also I switched over to more chicken and fish instead of the red meat that I love and grow off of. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Make it every 2 hours. It's better to be safe than sorry. Also, eat plenty of carbs, you don't want the body feeding off the muscle for energy.A ratio of 2:1 carbs to protein is what I follow. If you take in 50 grams of protein a sitting, take in at least 100 grams of carbs IP: Logged |

Eating every 3 hours is fine unless you have some kind of problem putting on weight. The body gets used to high amounts of protein, and even higher amounts need to be eaten to make gains. This can be reduced by cycling you calories. I have had great results by cutting calories 15% on days I don't train. Remember, if you eat super high amounts of protein, your body will need super high amounts to build muscle. go with 1.5-2 grams per pound of bodyweight. The only ones that say you need more than that are the supplement companies, and all the top pros that push the supplements. LP IP: Logged |

I have also found that even 1 gram per pound is sufficient. I vary my protein intake by as much as 150 gms on any given day. Today I will only eat around 200 gms of protein, and 25 gms of carbs. No more. I will only get 900 calories. Tomorrow I will up the protein and add about 25 more gms of carbs. ------------------ IP: Logged |
