Mass Quantities has asked me to help them create their new Meal replacement and I am almost done. I concentrated on taste and used real vanilla and cocoa powder in the French Vanilla and Chocolate flavors respectively. It really does taste great this was the goal I know how I get tired of other MRPs after a while. Each serving has 60g of quality protein (a blend of Whey, Milk, and Egg) and the complete daily supply of Vitamins. I did not put any other trick ingredients in the mix, since I wanted it to taste good. The protein blend gives different Amino Acid profiles and really improves the mouth feel. My question is how should it be packaged? MQ wants to offer only one size to start. A single serving in a shaker bottle would cost about $2.50 A single serving in a pack would be about $2.00 A two-pound jar about $20 A six-pound bucket about $55 What are your thoughts? ------------------ George George Spellwin

Anything but the shaker!!!!! if i order some- and i doubt polish stores will carry it- i would have to order a whole bunch at once......so i'm gonna have to carry this cardboard box filled with 85% air from the p.o. all the way home. No! the jar is perfect, if not than the big tub. Luke IP: Logged |

go big or go home. The 6lbs. bucket. why sixty g. of protein. From my research I have came to the conclusion that the human GI tract is only capable of absorbing around 40g. protein per 1-1.5 hr period. I mean shit, all enzymes and the proteolytic enzymes (trypsin, chymotry., etc.) are only able to handle so much substrate before they are saturated. Seriously look into the chemical kinetics of some of the protein enzymes. IP: Logged |

The 2 pound jar! It would be easier to get three people to buy a two pounder than to get 1 person to spend th $$$ on a 5 pounder. Just looking at it from a marketing perspective. ------------------ IP: Logged |

I agree with deepsquat from a maketing perspective, the 2 lb jar will probably be your best bet. The market isn't full of hard core body builder who know their shit and are willing to invest, it is full of people who want to get HUGE and belive that creatine and reading muscle and fitness is the way to go, those are the people you want to target. I agree that the 2 lb jar is the BEST choice for the first run of the sizes offered. People will have to try it to decide if it is all that you claim it to be, and most won't drop $55.00 on a product that they have no idea whether they will even like or want to finish. What's $20.00 to most people? Plus 2lbs.. is an adequate amount to allow proper use for a few weeks and seems to be a good value for the money. I personally buy the big tubs of protien, but that is BECAUSE what I buy I know I like and will use all of. On the other hand I have bought other products that I didn't like and ended up either not using and throwing away or giving away. Another good idea, hint, hint, would be to have the manufacturer prepackage single serving samples and either promo them at gyms, or send them to them for trial by the end users. That would be great, besides, then George, you might be able to get a few hundred or so to pass around in here to start the whole rave!!! ------------------ IP: Logged |

Go with the 2lb to start. One great word of advice, if it will not mix VERY easily, we won't buy it. Maybe include a mixing shaker as a promo item. ------------------ Iron legend's are not born of flesh and blood, they are created by bent bars and broken plates. IP: Logged |

well to me it seems that the 2lb is the safest bet, however most people I know would prefer the cost savings of the bucket.
note: I include bodyfat merely to show greater LEAN mass. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Anyone here who buys supplements and meal replacement drinks knows that their going to spend 80 to 100 a month on protien and etc. As we speak the trend is individual packages of say 20 to a box, or 5# buckets. Yes its convenient to have individaul packages, but you can easily put what you need in a zip lock and take it wherever or even pre-mix your shaker. So with all this in mind, we have already been groomed for the packets or buckets, Im for the 6# bucket. If you cant be big in life, at least look big in your coffin. IP: Logged |

Its got to be the bucket... You use so much of the stuff, it seems to go fast enough with even a 5 lb. bucket. Question, how much is one serving to get 60g of protein, If that is one scoop, it would last longer. I am assuming it takes two. ---------------- NoLimits IP: Logged |

I'm not concerned with what size, color, or how pretty looking the container is. The only determining factor for me is THE COST PER SERVING. If your really want this product to explode on the market, cut your costs and pass is on to us by reducing the selling price! Maybe you won't make as much profit per unit, but you will sell a hell of a lot more product - thus increasing your revenues. Is this stuff really that expensive to make? So many more people would buy protein if it were more affordable. IP: Logged |

I also wanna know cost per serving. That's what would make me purchase the product or not. I would start with the 2 lb. If it works out go 6. I'd never mess with a single packet. Or a shaker. Cost per serving is too high. Buckets all the way. IP: Logged |

Thanks for helping with my market research Your opinions really matter to me. Sounds like the 2 and 6 lbs. sizes win. Here are a few more details: The bucket would have 56 servings. Each serving would have 350 calories, 2g of fat, 60g of protein and 23g of carbs. The Meal Replacement is primarily Whey, then Milk Protein, then Egg. This provides a nice amino acid profile. There are less than 1g of Sugars. The carbs come from the Milk Protein this and the natural flavorings is what makes the product have such a nice taste and consistency. I am partial to the Chocolate, but the Vanilla is good too. Those wanting less protein would take a smaller serving those wanting more, a larger one. When developing the product, I concentrated on Value. It will not be the cheapest, nor the most expensive. We did use the best quality proteins and the Vitamins and Minerals are from Hoffman-LaRoche. But, I did not bitch the product up with trick ingredients to act as a window-dressing. I wanted to design a healthy food for bodybuilders. I will certainly work something out with Mass Quantities for all you guys I will send you an email when it is ready. More comments please. ------------------ George George Spellwin

I was just going to ask you what the sugar content would be.... Not to bad. What are you using for a sweetener? You realize that vitamins and minerals should not ideally put taken at the same time. Small point, but what the heck, you asked So I'm for the 2lb to start off with and of course I only buy the buckets. Hell, what am I saying, the last order I put in was 25lbs.
