THE GUY DOESN'T KNOW WHAT HE'S TALKING
ABOUT. DECLINE BUILDS MID TO LOWER CHEST.
ALSO IT'S GOOD IF YOU HAVE SHOULDER PROBLEMS.
TAKES SOME OF THE STRESS OFF.

I was just reading some info the other day and it was on the use of MRI (?) to determin the total actual muscle fiber utilization. Was some VERY interesting reading. Now they could only do some of the more basic lifts due to some technical reasons... can't remember the whole article.

Anyway, out of the three bench lifts, flat, incline, and decline, the decline recruted more muscle fiber.

I'll dig up that article and post a bit more in detail.... dang if I can't remember shit these days...

Late

I have never gotten anything out of decline. The reason the football coach said that it was bad was because he's not a bodybuilder. He is training his athletes to compete in football, not BBing. You never use that type of movement in a game situation. They want to concentrate on your arms going straight out and angled up. That is where you are going to need the movement the most, like when you are hitting, blocking, tackling, etc.. Think about a football game, and what type of movements are used. I personally think decline sucks, but it will have its benefits or else it wouldn't be there. Thanks for letting me rant.

Now I am really confused because I just read a big article on uk.rec.bodybuilding that stated one of the main reasons people never achieve their full chest potential is because they neglect Decline.

Aaarggh! Now so far all the board is against it?

Personally Ilike it because I can do my heaviest bench press on the Decline.

I would like to see more of your comments people

E2 what do you say to this?

i found decline to hit to lower bottom of chest, but it takes a toll on the shoulder joint, so i try to stay clear of it.

Decline is great for variety and it can help your flat and incline maxes, I started using it a few years ago and my flat and incline totals went up immediately, of course it may work better for some more than others but it sure has been great for me. DO YOUR DECLINES!!!
