Geez, so much to talk about on my first day!! Is there anyhting I can do to put an end to next day soreness? Usually my abs hurt soooo much. Sometimes it's that good hurt that lets you know you worked hard & did your best. Sometimes I just wanna cry though!! : ) My back usually hurts from lifting too. I can deal with the pain b/c I'm pretty used to my legs being sore. But is there anyhting I can do/take to relieve it? Thanks! : ) IP: Logged |

Try to stretch between sets to get the lactic acid moving out of your muscles. You could also take a swim after your workout to cool down. If that doesn't work then you are stuck with the pain. It's a good pain, though, and I like it!. Jon ------------------ IP: Logged |

Try stretching well at the end of your workout, other than that, as 2thick said you need to get oxygen into your muscles to remove the lactic acid, so any arobic activity will take care of it. Or just find someone to give you a nice massage

try 500mg of vitamin c before and after your workout. I recall reading a study that said this works. Luke IP: Logged |

I assume this is first day back lifting. If this is the case then soreness is inevitable its part of the game. Its actually refered to as DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness) its from the microtears and lactic acid build up in the muscles as a result of training. All i can really say is STRETCH STRETCH you can't get enough of it just slow and controlled no bouncing, it helps release some of the lactic acid trapped in the muscle!!! As for supplements to take, i don't know about u guys but HMB really works for me or Pyruvate. I recover fast and usually pain free. if its just alittle muscle pain then there is nothing wrong with just dealing with it it will go away, take in alot of water or other juices. IF the pain is to great then i also may take some Ibuprofen or Aspirin and check to make sure that your using good form and technique that can cause a lot of pain also in the long run. Good luck and train hard but don't overtrain oversized IP: Logged |

Have a hot bath after training always works for me, eat plenty of protein and stretch the muscle that is sore!!! rubbing a little deep heat in to your muscles will do wonders as well.

Stretching is about all you can do. Soreness is sometimes good so you will know when your muscles are rested enough to hit'em again. And as I said in my other post, there are lots of good supps.Protein has helped with my soreness. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Like it has said before...stretch...and then stretch some more. I can't believe some of the people who walk into my gym... They go directly to benches and start lifting. That is a good way to get injured. I usually stretch a good 15-25 minutes. I helps my reps too because I am able to get full range of motion. A lot of people take Ibuprofen or one of the other NSAIDS but I think being sore is your bodies way of saying..."hey, I like this, I am growing here". Platinum ------------------ IP: Logged |
