Currently before I workout I have a whey protein supplement. The one I take is from GNC Pro Proformance. I take it for energy. I'm not really sure about it though...is there anyhting better I can take? I don't like including carbs into my diet, so whatever I take has to be low in carbs & sugar. Just please keep in my I'm trying to lose weight, gain stamina & endurance (for track season), and get chizled out (especially in my abs). The mixture I'm taking right now tastes absolutely HORRIBLE...it's to the point where I can barely gag it down. And it makes me feel sick to my stomache. Does any know of a good tasting whey protein...or of any other supplement I can take to obtain my fitness goals (pre-workout)? IP: Logged |

I use Designer Protein chocolate with water and I think it tastes pretty good. Prolab's Pure Whey chocolate is pretty good too. Both are low in carbs and high in protein. Also the protein factory is supposed to be a good place to get good protein, from what I've heard on this board. I haven't used them yet, but alot of people speak highly of them. IP: Logged |

Danni, you really need to read some books about dieting.A very good one is by Bill Reynolds and Negitra Jayde called SLICED or just read a bunch of old issues of bodybuilding mags like FLEX this should help you get a handle on what to do with your diet.......Protien is not utilized by your body as a pick me up energy source! Your body needs carbs for this! You really need to educate your self on this so that you will stop running around in circles. The amount of info that needs to be givin to you cannot be done through this board, though this is a good place to increase your knowledge base. Thanks Deepsquat..... I do read a lot of muscle mags, but I get kinda confused w/ all the ads & stuff...it kinda sends me around in circles. I'm reading a lot & trying to educate myself further. I find that the protein does give me some energy, but I think it's just all in my head : ) IP: Logged |

Up your carbs, use any of the proteins listed above (they're all good), and keep your "good fats" up. Danni, I'm not sure what it is that you're trying to do. Are you trying to get in shape for the beach, compete in fast twitch track events, or bodybuild? Each one of these things requires a different approach, although you will find they all have certain elements in common. Check my last post on your most recent thread before this one for basic advice re: training for track and field. If you're competing in sprints, hurdles, etc., train for these events and weight train and you may find that you also wind up looking great in that bikini, and that you have developed your physique as well. Follow three different plans, and you'll probably get nowhere. IP: Logged |

To me, the best tasting protein is the Optimum Nutrition's Whey Protein. It has 22grams of protein and 2 grams of carbs. I mix this with skim milk and have it with breakfast in the morning and also use it as a post-workout meal. I would try to eat a normal meal at least an hour to two hours before your weight training. You need energy to push those weights and have endurance. IP: Logged |

Sliced is a good book to get. But I'm not one for cutting much. I think I'll look into a book and call it, 'BigAss Mass Monster - How to get and keep that 300lbs of muscle' LAte Lobo IP: Logged |
