Any other HD/HIT fans out there? Just wanted to hear your thoughts. I certainly don't believe it's the only way to train, but I do like it a lot (I've been doing it for many years, although I take occasional breaks from it and do more volume training).

Heavy duty will "work" for a few weeks every so often but I wouldn't take it to the extreme of 20 min a week or whatever bs that is.

I think it "works" or people who train alot in many ways:

1) They were overtraining so any change is good.

2) Going to complete failure is a change as well in many cases.

3) Cycling your training every few weeks is a good idea so the body cannot adapt.

4) If people are taking it to an extreme of 10-15 min. workouts then it is almost an "off" week -- which many people (prolly 90%+) on this board have a problem doing (gotta lift dammit!)

I got the "heavy-duty" book and has some good info but i like polquin's ideas better. He even advocates HD for a few weeks here and there.

When I signed up for Muscle Media 2000 sub. when it first came out I got some old audio tapes of Bill Phillips interviewing Mike Menzter (back when I thought Bill Phillips was god...). It is some funny stuff. Menzter is a character. Talking about Ayn Rand, the 1 way to train and how he go robbed out of the 1980 Olympia title. You can almost here Phillips on the other end of the phone interview about to bust out laughing...

To paraphrase a favorite quote about Mentzer by Dan Duchaine:

I wish TwinLabs would stop using that roided out picture of Menzter from 20 years ago to hawk creatine and show what he looks like today. I [Dan] look better now than Menzter does [now]. Of course since he only needs to train 15 minutes 2 times a week it shouldn't take him long to get back into shape.

Whoa...sorry I got way off topic but it's a Friday, I'm happy and anxiously waiting for gear for my 1st time...soon, very soon.....can't take it..the pressure is killing me..ahhhhhhhhhh!
