Is nutrasweet bad for you. This girl told me last night that diet coke is just as bad for you as regular coke. Is this true? What do you all drink instead of water, or what is the best thing to drink if you want something other than water? Later Bros

Nutrasweet fucks me up. By that I mean, it makes me really really irritable. Sometimes it makes my hands shake, too. It took me a long time to narrow down the symptoms, as they were very subtle.

When I first got to reckoning that Nutrasweet was the culprit, I did a little digging on the phnylkenylane and, it has tons and tons of side effects, including death if you are sensitive. Another disturbing fact is that Nutrasweet effects your brain and the rest of your nervous system. Too weird for me.

(I'm sure people aren't dropping like flys with Diet Coke, but it speaks to the potential for maladies)

I wish I still had the URLs of the places I found this info out, but it was a few years ago.

My side effects are very mild, but, who needs Nutrasweet anyway? Just use a little natural sweetener, or don't.

hope this helps

I question this.

I too have read much "fear-mail" and studied many websites which describe supposed problems with nutrasweet. I still haven't seen any proof, though. I just wonder if it is being unjustly villified.

If anyone can come up with some published research, I would be VERY interested in seeing it. I have read plenty of rants, and seen nothing verifiable.

Nutrasweet breakes down into
Phenylalanine
Aspartic Acid and
Methanol

Phenylalanine fucks with your brain
Aspartic acid fucks with the endocrine system Methanol is wood alcohol, a known poison (breaks down into formaldehyde)

Plenty of people love Diet Coke and drinkit until the cows come home. That's totally cool. I won't tell anyone not to drink it.

It makes me jittery (coffee nor caffeine do)
and It makes me irritable, so I avoid it. I read it breaks down into poisons, so I make a concerted effort not to drink it. I had a Diet Coke just three days ago, and it didn't seem to effect me at all. Just like smoking a cigarette wouldn't kill me, I jsut know I'm better off with as little aspartame in my body as possible.

The safety studies conducted on Aspartame are similar to studies done on cigarettes; sponsored by companies with vested interest, and mostly inconclusive. Independent studies differ.

I never drink soda. I haven/t drank soda in about a year. And that was the first time in about another year. All i drink is water skim milk, OJ with my creatine, an occasional gatorade, and sometimes beer.

From what I have read it is recommended that you do not drink liquids that contain citric acid such as O.J. when on creatine. But do drink liquids that are high in glucose.

big catratcho, thanks, I will definitely look into those.

To date, I have been going by the FDA's recommended healthy dosage of 12 cans of diet soda per day, based on my body weight. According to their research, that is 1/100 of the ammount which can be ingested daily for life without causing adverse reactions.

What I wouldn't give for a healthy, calorie-free food that tastes like pizza.

It might have something to with the fact that it contains aspartame.

BOY WAS THAT A GOOD POST HUH CATRATCHO?
ALSO FOR THOSE USING SOME WEIGHT AND MASS POWDERS THAT ADVERTISE NO SUGAR:
MOST IF NOT ALL HAVE ASPARTAME!
ALTHOUGH IN VERY SMALL AMOUNTS IT MAY NOT HAVE A BAD EFFECT,WHO USES A SMALL AMOUNT ANYWAY?
IT ALL ADDS UP SO CHECK THE LABELS.
IN ADDITION TO THAT ANYTHING ENDING IN OSE IS A DIFFERENT WAY TO SPELL SUGAR, SUCR OSE
DEXTR OSE ETC.
I GUESS ITS JUST LIKE BUTTER AN MARGARINES.
WHILE I WOULD NOT HAVE TOO MUCH BUTTER I ALSO WOULD NOT HAVE ANY MARGARINE.
COFFEE AND CREAMER:
THE CREAMER HAS NO CHOLESTEROL BUT ONCE IN YOUR BODY IT RAISES IT.
