Based on my personal genetics, Ive had to work my ever loving ass of to achieve what chest mass I have, and fortunately it has worked for the best but.............. Ive has such a damn struggle with the development of my outer pec area. Ive found that rotating between dumbbell and barbell has been pretty effective, but what do you bros know about grip distances on the barbell? Any tricks you bros might have up your sleeves on this would be very helpful. Thanx Bros, Bleed Iron, Later. IP: Logged |

I love using dumbells but the best mass I put on my body has been from barbells. For "outer" pecs (I use quotes becasue there really is no such thing as inner and outer pecs, just upper and lower) you want to use a grip at least 1 and 1/2 times wider than shoulder width. Try pressing the bar down below your nipple line, almost to the edge of your ribcage. For godsake don't let your back arch. When you do this you recruit more of your lower pec fibers and want to concentrate on the middle fibers as much as possible, the insertions of the middle fibers is what the "inner and outer" pecs are. Try that, combined with low rep weighted dips, incline DB presses, low incline flyes, and a whole lot of calories for some good chest growth. Try doing flyes with dumbells. Do them flat and incline and even hit the decline. I know that it gives the deepness in the middle but it also stresses the outer pectoral muscles, making them work hard. Also do the flyes so that when you are fully extended one end of the dumbell is pointing toward the floor, that's a little extra. IP: Logged |

Sorry dude, but you might be out of luck. Anecdotal evidence aside, the shape of your muscles is largely determined by genetics, regarding the placement and length of the tendons connecting them. Your best bet is to do a good, well rounded chest workout, improve it all around and hope it fills out. ------------------ IP: Logged |

I gotta side w/ Doc Savage on this one. Your muscles are pretty much shaped how they're shaped. You can make 'em bigger, but you can't really change how the muscle cells are distributed. ------------------ IP: Logged |
