I get so scared you guys are gonna flame me each time I ask a question, but I don't know this stuff because I have done too much research, and now am trying to seperate fact from opinion. I trust you guys, I don't know why, I don't know any of you, but I do. Well I am afraid I might be overtraining. Is it possible for a 20 year old to overtrain, just kidding. I am in the gym 6 or 7 days a week, and isolate each muscle group. 1)Chest, abs, light calves I usually work out 1.5-2 hours, with no partner...and about 30-60 sec in between each set. 4 or 5 sets of 8 on most everything, except abs(more). I usually always feel sore the next day, I've always thought this was good. I want to push my self to the limit without going too far, if I am not working out hard enough I will go longer. I feel so lazy when I am not dead tired when I leave, and when I am not working harder than everyone else in the gym. I've read most of arnolds encyclopedia, including his workouts, I know I am not arnold, but I think if his workouts were that hard, I can't possibly be overtraining. Thanks Bros. IP: Logged |

In a nutshell, yes you can overtrain at any age. My guess is that you could be overtrained if: you are tired all of the time you lose your appetite your strength starts to decline your stamina starts to decline you lose motivation try a 3 days on 1 day off. Get the whole body in during each of the three days. As you become more advanced. You can start to restructure it to doing the entire body within a six or seven day period. I find, especially when cutting that I need a day off every 5 days or so. Then I am ready to kill again. Chesty IP: Logged |

I also like a 3 on 1 off. I do two lifts a day right now. .........a.m.........p.m. Day 1:..Tri's........Bi's & foreamrs Day 2:..Back.........Chest Day 3:..Legs.........Shoulders & Calves Day 4:..rest Then I repeat. I find that splitting gives me more time to focus on each muscle group, and I'm not as tired because I'm not in the gym 2 hours at a time. Plus the 3 full days of resting time really helps me feel good to hit that muscle group again. I go on my lunch break at work, and then after work as well. It's a refreshing change of pace for me now, I'm actually getting sore again!! [This message has been edited by Big Brother Val (edited February 18, 2000).] IP: Logged |

Yeah i think you're overtraining take a day off and rest, and stop the 2 hour workouts you don't need them, mine only take 45 mins to 1 hr max and i'm beat to hell.

if your not using any juice you should step up the intesity and never workout over an hour, your test levels drop significantly after 45-50 min but if your using juice i really can't tell you i have no experience IP: Logged |

Intensity is more important then the amount of time you spend at the gym. It's recommended that you give your muscles 48-72 hours recoup time(gas or not) so that they can be refresh and ready for the next work out. IP: Logged |

yes bro. you are over training that's the first mistake people make when they start working out. they think the more they train, the faster, and bigger you get. (not true) and for time in the gym, 45 min to an hour is it....get in, bust your ass, and get out.
this is my workout: monday chest + triceps IP: Logged |

My golden rule of overtraining is that if I get sick or if I just feel run down all the time, then I'm probably training too much. I'm on the sauce and I still only train 4 days a week. When I'm clean, I cut back to 3 days/week. ------------------ IP: Logged |
