There is a some controvercy to how much protien one should take, as a rule of thumb, I try to achieve 1:1 and get most of my protien from the powders and shakes, this gives me a good base line to work from, that way I know how much protein, I am really getting, and any protein I get from the regular meals is above and beyond the one 1:1 ratio, which is even better. I have read you should intake anywhere from 1-2gm/# pound of body weight. I have also heard that this ratio should come from your lean body mass weight, not over all weight. Just my two cents IP: Logged |

For the average joe it is recomended you consume at least .6-.8 g of protein per pound of bosyweight. For bodybuilders, 1g per pound of boduweight is what is widely accepted and practiced. While juicing, I like to consume at least 1.5g per pound of bodyweight...but up to 2g will not hurt you. ------------------ IP: Logged |

i think the mix up is when converting lbs to kg. alot of people may read:2.2 gms per kilogram and mistake it for lbs. 2.2 lbs = 1 kg etc etc. i would say stick with the good old anti metric system and go with around 1-1.5 gms(metric...ugh) per lb(yaay). thats my 2 centidollars worth. lol IP: Logged |
