All right, sorry to start off, this is long. I have a test today in about an hour, instead of studying for it I read 4 chapters of a book called Power a Scientific Approach. Now I have a ton of questions about nutrition. I've done my research, but that is the problem, I have read too many opinions. I know a few things about nutrition and here they are.

1) Drink alot of water, the body is 60% water, so in order to get bigger you are and stay healthy, and all the other stuff, you need to be hydrated.

2) Eat more, smaller meals.

3) Protein is good.

4) mono and disaccharides are bad.

Ok, after that I get confused. I know I am supposed to eat at least 1gm of protein for each pound of body weight, but what is listed on food labels, isn't truely what you can use. 96% with eggs, 60% with milk, 40% with meat. How can I possibly consume that much protein in one day...I guess whey protein.
I also know that I do not want to raise my glycemic index before working out, is that why people take insulin? What should I consume as carbs, and how much if I weigh 175. Also, is milk bad, it has lactose in it? Is fruit bad, because it has glucose in it? How much fat should you eat? I know saturated is bad, and polyunsaturate is ok, because it has vitamins. Do weight gainers suck, will they make me fat even if I work hard, and I already have a low BF%, and is Myoplex Mass any good?

I know you guys won't want to answer all of these, but if you could throw in your two cents, maybe I could begin to peice this random data together, and make somee good out of it. Thanks guys for putting up with my annoying post. Later Bros.

Stock up on chicken breasts, fish, tuna, steaks, protein bars. Avoid sugars, caffine, fried foods. If you want "fast food" then my advice is Subway (I believe called.)
I would say don't worry about your fat intake as much as how many calories and grams of protein you are consuming.
I would say consume at least 5,000 calories(if not more) and 400 grams of protein daily. I think those amounts would be adequate.

Consume about 1.5grams daily; I personally
use a 30/30/40 Hydrolized/cross-flow/casein
mixture from http://www.proteinfactory.com/
Of course chicken and tuna should be your
whole food sources.

I'm big proponent of soy because of all it's isoflavones and how digistable it is. I get those big 6lbs buckets from MQ for like $50. For that much protein, it's a killer deal.

Most of my solid-food protein comes from beef and chicken. Tuna and eggs, too.

JOE JUICER, how does that soy work out for you?. I know the ads in muscle mags will have us believe it is inferior, but I seem to disagree. I think it's more of a marketing ploy for them.

I'll try and answer as many of these as I can. When I'm "off" I eat 1g of protein for every lb of bodyweight. When I'm on I up that to 1.5g. You can consume the amount you want by drinking protein shakes 3 hrs after lunch and 3 hrs after dinner and by eating egg whites, turkey, chicken breasts, and everything the other bros said.

For carbs, eat oatmeal or cereal (cheerios or some low sugar kind) or fruit or toast for breakfast. For lunch and dinner eat pasta, rice, baked potatoes (w/out butter and sour cream), sandwiches, vegetables (steamed not fried).

Milk is not bad because it has lactose in it. Only if you are lactose intolerant is this bad...but too much alctose is not good. Unless you drink an absurd amount milk per day then you have nothing to worry about.

Fruit is not bad because it has glucose in it. If you eat fruit just don't eat other sugary foods during the day.

How much fat depends on what you want to accomplish. for a cutting cycle I eat 20% fats. For a bulking a cycle I don't really pay attention to fat...I just try not to eat too much saturated fat.

Weightgainers are good if you are on a bulking phase or if you have trouble consuming the amount of calories you want to per day. I use myoplex deluxe and love it. Its perfect for a postworkout meal.

I hope this helps you out bro. A good question deserves an answer. I'm sure everyone else can add to this too.

whats the crap with phytoestogens, isnt whey protein supposed to have mild antistrogentic properties??????

If soy was all the good it claims to be it would be a very good alternative and a big loss for suplement companies. Even if whey is diggested faster, the only real benefit of faster digdetion is after a wourkout or upon wakening (spelling)

Soy has more BCAAS and glutamine than whey proterin, consuming 100g a day is cheep and gets you all the glutamine you would ever whant.
