Posting the same question that other people have posted is one of the biggest reasons that the board has been slower lately. You would be surprised to find out what a bandwidth hog this program is. I have seen other sites using this program, with alot of repeditive posts, and some really stupid questions, taken off servers. If a site uses too much bandwidth, no matter what they promised they can handle, they usually pull the plug on a site. I'm sure Mr. Spellwin drops a ton of cash each month, not to mention equipment prices. If he would have to upgrade to a more expensive server, hopefully he could. Not all people are willing to keep dropping cash into something like that, and its no longer fun or profitable to them. We have an excellent board to learn and share our experiences with each other. Lets not screw that up. Just a little thought into a question will usually answer itself. If not, try the search engine. If its still not there, then ask if its a real issue. Also all the people posting with gear available or looking for gear, this needs to quit now. This is not the place for it. I'm not trying to piss anyone off, I'm trying to keep this board around. Thanks to Mr.Spellwin and the moderators for such a great board. Hopefully we can all help keep some of the excess waisting of bandwidth to a minimum. IP: Logged |

Good question BigCatratcho. Thats why I've stopped posting pix until I find out. I don't think so, because everytime you post a new topic it get assigned a new ip address. Thats what takes up the bandwidth. IP: Logged |

Since we have to have a website to post pictures, we could just provide the link to the picture locations and let people view them that way. Another option would be to police are own posts. If the ones with pictures is over a week old we should delete them ourselves. chesty IP: Logged |

I appreciate all of your concern. And yes, this board is an incredible processor hog. For all you bodybuilder geeks out there, Elite runs on a dedicated Sun Ultra 10 (a very powerful server) and we are hosted at an ISP who has enormous bandwidth capabilities. In the last month or so, traffic at Elite has increased dramatically -- thanks to all of your efforts here. If I may toot our horn just a bit, presently, there are 4,000 unique visitors to our site every day and 2,000 of those are visiting the board. Our mailing list has grown to 50,000 subscribers. This effectively gives us the same reach as the print magazines Flex, Muscle Mag, or Ironman. Elite Fitness has over 30,000 pages on the site and we are revamping our search engine to help you get to them easier. Please rest assured that as we have been around since 1995, we are not going anywhere and will keep investing what it takes to make elitefitness.com the best site on the net for bodybuilders. With respect to the recent slow down, we archived about 7,000 old posts today and this has improved the performance of the site considerably. These old topics are still available in the search engine. Please feel free to post pictures they do not slow the board down, but they do make for a longer download for people with slower Internet connections. Lastly, there is a way that you can help. First, tell as many people as possible about the fun that they can have when they sign up for a free subscription to Elite Fitness News and come over to our board. The second thing is to support our sponsors. They make all of this possible and rest assured, we would not accept advertising from anyone who's products and services we did not believe in. Finally, invest in our reports, guides, and consultations. It never ceases to amaze me how many people will spend hundreds of dollars on gear, yet refuse to buy even one guide on the subject. Our counterfeit guide at http://www.elitefitness.co/anabolix is outstanding and is guaranteed to save bodybuilders well over the cost of the small investment. You can even invest in a consultation with me Oh, and we are designing T Shirts, so we hope you will buy those too. Again, we sincerely appreciate your making this place the popular destination that it has become. ------------------ Yours in sport, George George Spellwin
