I read on old article recently by Will Brink where he stated that after upping his intake of flaxseed oil to two tablespoons per day his body fat went down 2% in 8 weeks(without cardio). There was no change in his weight either so he put on some muscle. Anyone experience something similar? IP: Logged |

I haven't heard of that but let me know if there is any proof to it. Flaxeed oil as far as I knew was supposed to help your skin condition. As well as digestion. ------------------ IP: Logged |

First of all, how was he measuring his BF? 2% is a margin-of-error number for all but the most exact of methods. I've taken flax seed oil (I believe MQ carries it) and it really seemed to make me "feel" better. I had great workouts and more energy just all around. It's definitely really good stuff. Lot's of non-bodybuilders take it to 'cause it's so good for you. ------------------ IP: Logged |

I have heard of similar claims of fat loss. But, that also can be had by just adding some fat to your diet. Many people make the mistake of cutting out fat entirely (as much as possible) and their body forgets how to metablolize it. Flaxseed is one of the best oils around, it contains the neccesary fats. Can't think of the names right off though. Chesty IP: Logged |

Joe Juicer, to tell you the truth i don't know what way he was testing his bf, but I would imagine it would be bf calipers. True that the margin of error could be 2 or more per cent but I think the point was that his bodyfat caliper readings were all smaller in the areas he tested (usually abdomen, thigh, upper chest) than before. So, if he read 9% bf, in fact his bf could have been up to 12-13%, but that does not change the fact that the readings were smaller- that he had less bf than before , whatever the actual percentage was. COOL HAND LIKED YOUR GRAPHIC BUT IT MADE ME WAIT LIKE TEN SECONDS FOR THE REPLY SCREEN. with regards to flax oil- I do not beleive that a 2% loss in bodyfat is reasonable, however flax oil does improve insulin sensativity and it is a weak uncoupler of oxidative phosphoralation, meaning that it will slightly increase your metabolism. It does do wonders for the skin especially if you have dry skin Peace ------------------ IP: Logged |

I consider flax seed oil an important part on my diet all year, cus I go exremely low fat on everything except for two takes of flax seed all a day; breakfast and lunch. BTW has any of you got trick to swallow down oil, withought having to pucke. For flax seed oil its ok cu I buy flax meal (dump it down in abig glass o water= more water, more protein, more $s in my pocket, more fiber in my diet...) but I simply cannot swallow fish oil for example. I am a huge fan of flax seed oil. It improves the oxygen-carrying capability of your blood, allows your own bodyfat to be utilized for energy, lowers bad cholestrol, has anabolic properties and contains tons of lignan (anti-estrogen). I speak from experience and I can easily believe that 2% drop. The best way to take oil is to mix it with a protein shake - it makes it "creamy" and actually improves the taste. If this is a hassle, just have a cup of hot coffee to follow. The heat turns the oil to liquid and it doesn't stay in your mouth for that shit aftertaste. IP: Logged |

Rohan, good idea about the temperature and the after taste. How much oil do you consume, I mean on a daily basis. Im trying to consume flax all yaer long. When I mass and when I diet, since I go TKD. IP: Logged |

Don't be shy with it, I take 2 or 3 desertspoons (about 12ml) through the day in divided doses. Capsules are too expensive - especially when you take the amount I'm talking about. IP: Logged |

violet, I always buy flax meal, or falx oil. The big reason behind tihs is money; for example I can buy 1lbs bags of flax meal for the eauivalent of 2$. Im already spending enough money on my diet, everybody can buy flax meal and not even notice its cost on their budget. IP: Logged |

It is only good if it is high lignan and cold expeller pressed. The only two brands that taste decent are Barleans and Mass Quantities at http://www.massquantities.com JL IP: Logged |

Been taking two tablespoons of flax oil daily for two months. Noticed an increased energy level due to the rich omega-3 fatty acids. Great for your body!! --HARDWORK-100mph IP: Logged |

In Arnold's BB Encyclopedia he says that taking 6g fish oil a day will decrese fat and increase muscle without changing your diet. . ------------------ [This message has been edited by champion (edited February 16, 2000).] IP: Logged |

do not buy the softgels. You never know if the oil inside has gone rancid or not. good, fresh flax seed oil has a rich taste... rancid flax seed oil tastes absolutely horrible and doens't have any of the nutrition benefits. ------------------ IP: Logged |
