For all the fans of Miami Vice: The cops don't have to admit who they are if they're setting you up. Especially the Feds. I read somewhere some guy claimed to be gym owner and openly offered money to anyone who would do business with him yet nobody is sure who he really is. IP: Logged |

Very true. Cops don't have to tell you if they are a cop. If you ask "are you a cop, DEA, Fed, any form of law enforcement bla, bla, they don't have to tell you! IP: Logged |

If the officer doesn't tell you he is an officer, after you have asked him point blank, would that not be entrapment? IP: Logged |

I think if a cop doesn't answer, or remains silent, then that can be construed as an affirmative answer. I am not sure what the law is but I will find out. Platinum IP: Logged |

I thought if they lied about it when asked outright that you could sue for entrapment or at least fight whatever charges because they didn't admit to being law enforcement. Anyway, if they want you bad enough and you don't have the dough to pay a big time lawyer your done, PERIOD. From a judges point of view the blue wall is 99.9% right 99.9% of the time. Just an opinion, no flames necessary. IP: Logged |

No, it is true. The law does not have to tell you who they are upon request(hence the term undercover). However, if they persist or in some way force you to do something that is unlawful, then that is entrapment. Becareful and be observant. If it smells fishy it probably is...... IP: Logged |

there are ways around this. like for instance if you are looking for a hooker (never do just knowm the law) and you think it maybe an undercover ask for a kiss first. If its a cop they decline as this would blow there case as they persued you. Now with reverse should you be involved and think the person is a cop who is selling let them do the stuff first. They can do it with you but not before you. This was explained to me by an attorney when i was a male stripper years ago and it kept me safe back than. IP: Logged |

And also; if you ask them point blank they will oftne joke around about it; like "Haha, do you really think I'd make a good cop??" A cop buddy of mine said they used this approach often. IP: Logged |

What the heck is the point of this post? Sure, we all know cops, feds etc don't HAVE to tell them what they do for a living. In the same vein, AS users aren't required to tell cops this. IP: Logged |

The point of this post is just to post it. Maybe some sucker out there might not get nabbed because of it. Pinhead. IP: Logged |

Entrapment would be police having a steroid website and arresting people who buy from them. An entrapment defense is very rarely used in the real world, as it can be hard to prove. And no, they don't have to tell you they are cops. IP: Logged |
