If you don't have it already check Charles Poliquin's book "The Poliquin Principals". His Calf routines are great and did wonders for me. For that matter so did most of his routines. Amazon.com should have it. Good luck.

Calves are on of those muscle groups that can be trained with greater frequency than most other body parts - even every other day, though at first they will get sore.

Maybe you could work in some calf raises before you train whatever body part you are training that day.

An exercise that I do besides raises (my warmup) is to get on the leg press machine with a good bit of weight (you determine what thta means for you), then with your legs extended but not locked, do "calf extensions" - just push the weight with your feet.

Works for me.

Corn works for me ! YOu just have to hit them hard and hit them often. Other than the normal routines try this. Stand on a block of wood (4x4), feet together with your heels hanging off the board. Bend down as if you were squating, allow your heels to almost touch the floor, then while still squatted down, raise yourself up onto your toes. Hold on to something to keep your balance but do not help yourself up. DO this for about 5 sets of 10. It will seem really easy for about the first set, then it will kill your calves.

If the bar ain't bending, you're not lifting enough !

I believe calves grow best when you use real slow movements. I learned this from Shannon Sharp. who has some kick ass calves. do a 3-4 second negative and positive, while flexing the calves for a few seconds on top of the movement. Most importantly make sure you go all the way up. Have someone watch you because 95% of the time the person doesnt know they can go higher. You will have to use a lot less weight, but you will get stornger faster, and use 6-10 sets of 10-15 reps 2-3 times a week. Try this for a few months. If it doesnt work you can kick my ass! Good luck

I dont mean to be marketing or anything,
but Strength shoes kick ass. i ordered a
pair last summer and my calves got huge.
I improved my 40yrd dash by a tenth of a second, and my vertical by 3-inches. (Which is useful if you are an athlete) Keep in mind that these were results just after two months. But i was doing tons of running and plyo's too so that had something to do with it also. Well,I went off on a rant so I'll stop. Hope that helped.hey im gonna dig mine out of the closet right now.
