YO, I was just wondering if anyone else out there has had similar experiences with training partners that will in no way ever pass the Real Test, who constantly bail out on you for bullshit reasons, and then think they know everything about BB? Well....if you have then this rant is for you. The dude that is supposed to work out with me shows about 1-2x a week, mind you I go 5 days, dont quite match up huh? No matter what I teach him about supp, nutrition, or even how to do a simple repetition, he still says taking protein powder is cheating..(only cause his punk ass is too cheap to buy any), he lives a Subway thinking he gets all the protein he needs, and, skips from one body part to the other, doing all his reps in about 2sec. flat!! Then he walks around work saying things to guys like, "yeah mass baby!",and giving nutritional advice. Get this....he about5'11" and about 145lbs.....go figure. The dudes legs look like kitchen table legs, and still insists he dont need squats, that leg extensions do all he needs for his quads. AHHHHHHHHHHH! Sometimes I just wish all my buddies were as anal about Balls To the Wall Friggin Hardcore as I am. Some day hes going to be benching and Im going to "forget" to spot him.....ok so thats mean, but for christs sakes...if your going to lift....do it like you Fu@#ing mean it, and quit wasting my precious time in my world!!!!! NO Pain, NO Gain......Remain the Same.!!!!!! Bleed Iron Bros. Later. IP: Logged |

I hear you bro. that sucks, my advice to you is to get rid of this guy and work out with me. well you probably cant do that unless you are in CO. but kick him to the over to the cardio equipment and find a guy who is bigger than you. good luck! IP: Logged |

Yeah! Loose the pencil neck, I have had this problem consistantly. I'm no behemoth my self but at 6' 230 10% I aint doin so bad, and I cant seem to find a partner that wants to do anything more than arms 4 times a week, oh! wait, did I say arms, I meant Biceps, why is it that most guys dont even know that your arm has a back side, or that there are muscles besides the pecs and the biceps. Woah... I had better calm down befor I toss my PC through my picture window, Damn test makes me edgy. Bottom line, ditch the nerd training partner, and just as people at the gym for spots on your heaviest sets. This will promote good form, less cheating, and you will find that you will go farther focusing your mental energy on you, instead of on getting some other pencil neck to the gym. At 5'11" 145#, he might be able to spot my wife....Hey Bro. sounds like you need to trade your partner in for someone thats reliable. Any, I had the same prob about 10 yrs ago. i eventually learned to workout without Him and when I needed a spot, just ask someone there who's capable. Good Luck IP: Logged |

I've never been able to keep a training partner, they always drop out or out times end up changing etc etc.. I have to admit training with someone is one of the best ways to grow, if they help motivate you properly.

I can't keep a training partner either.....any of you bro's live in Atlanta...ha ha ha.... Often I grab whoever I can for a spot but working with a partner, I get greater intensity, as you know. I am a trainer and one of the bigger guys in my gym. So a lot of times, newer guys ask me for advice. I try to train with them - they are eager about it because they want to leaern, and their intensity feeds my intensity. There's nothing wrong with a newbie if he's a motivated newbie. I would be more than happy to sling iron with any of you bros, problem is Im OH and your not...(oh well). Yeah, the dudes an inch taller than me at 145, and I gain to 210-215 bulking and 200 cut, some difference huh. I dug the hell out of the spot my wife comment....lol. I thought about launching a classified for a partner but, Ive heard alot of guys get gay responses, not flaming on gays, but I definately dont want one spotting me. Anyhow Ive pretty much given up on him...he always says..."overslept man" or wasnt feeling good man" I just look at him and keep walking now, but Ill leave him to his subway, frozen healthy choice dinners, and his ""knowledge"" (term used very loosley) of BB, and figure something else out for now. Thanx for the comments Bros. Bleed Iron, Later. IP: Logged |

In a similar vein, I have a buddy who is 38% body fat. He shows up maybe twice a week and has actually called me a prick for telling him he won't lose weight by just doing weight training. His cardio excuse...a bone spur on his heel. IP: Logged |

THATS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU WANT TO BELIEVE IN SOMEONE AND THEY'RE NOT WORTH THE TIME. BUT KNOWING YHIS IS GOOD BECAUSE IF YOU KNOW THIS THEN YOU CAN MAKE PLANS TO GO WITH SOMEONE ELSE OR JUST MEET SOMEONE AT THE GYM. YOU CAN ALWAYS ASK FOR A SPOT FROM ANYONE BUT THERE IS STILL THE RUSH TO LET THAT PERSON GET BACK TO WHAT THEY WERE DOING BEFORE AND IT MAKES YOU HURRY INTO THE LIFT. COMPENSATE FOR HIS DEFICIT AND STOP TRYING TO SELL HIM ON PROTEIN OR ANYTHING. YOU JUST NEED TO HAVE HIM SPOT YOU AND ENCOURAGE YOU AND IN THE END HE MIGHT SEE YOUR RESULTS ARE MUCH BETTER THAN HIS. SOME PEOPLE YOU JUST CANT HELP!

Having a bad work out partner is bad, but it really sucks to work out alone, too. You never get to fully push yourself to the limit. I miss working out with the best partner I ever had. My little brother (who isn't really very little anymore). He has to work out by himself, too, because we just can't find anyone that pushes us enough (and shows up every day). Oh well, I guess I'll keep on looking, but I'd rather train alone than with a bad partner. Jon ------------------ IP: Logged |

I hate a sorry training partner, I have been working at my body since '86 and have went through ungodly amounts of training partners. Some of them lasted one workout and whined about I'm too sore, one of my partners went to a doctor because he was sore after his first time (wah wah)! Just tell your sorry partner, that he won't never have s#&@ unless he does what you tell him. He will either leave or try harder. Ask him would he like a little cheese with his "whine" !!!!!
