was reading another post and it made me curious, cuz i use a shitload of weight on this exercise, and feel if i go any lower i will put excess strain on my knees... i go to where my lower legs are parallel to the floor and at that point, my upper legs are parallel to the foot rest on the leg press machine... All the way to the stops baby. Feet bit wider than shoulder and located towards the bottom - not the top. I also do ONE LEGGED presses. Now that is the way to go! Late Lobo IP: Logged |

Mix it up very heavy partial way down and when I go lighter all the way down to the chest. Agree with 1 leg presses also feet planted up at top burns hamstrings. IP: Logged |

You were probably reading my post so I will give you my 2 cents worth.First lay the back rest down, maybe not to the floor but get it back there.Haveing it high up limits your range of motion. Two put your feet high up on the platform this will reduce stress on your knee joint,Three bring the weight down until your upper thighs touch your chest, if your ass is rising off of the seat it means that you need to work oon the flexability of your hip and ankle structure. Good luck IP: Logged |

I go just past 90 degrees, otherwise I feel stress on my knees. The same with squats. I squat until my quads are parallel with the ground. IP: Logged |

I just go as far down as I can without raising my ass off of the seat which is a little beyond 90 degrees. Lower the backrest as far as it will go. Dorian Yates said that he lowers the backrest and lets his knees touch his chest. Going down that far for me only causes strain on my back so I have to cut it a little short unless I am going light. On any movement, any machine...if you're not going from fully contracted to fully extended, you're only cheating yourself. If you can't do a full range because of back pain/knee pain, lower weight, wear a knee brace etc. IP: Logged |
