BPP, Most PTs actually gain their gym knowledge from the coursework, I simply got certified to legitimize what I tell people anyway! After all, most of the REAL knowledge comes from experience. IP: Logged |

i was certified but i let mine lapse... afaa. its shit, face it... just taking a test does not show you know anything, any tom dick and harry can pass them fuckin things. hands on is the only way to learn... bugs the fuck out of me to hear someone say "well i am certified so i know such and such". (not bashin you, just saying). some of these 180lb trainers gotta fuckin take some time to actually learn shit.. annoying!!! IP: Logged |

I am currently working part-time as a assistant trainer in a gym, working on my cert. from the ISSA. A good friend of mine from Sweden is cert. through the IFBB. I learn more from him, than my course studies. I definately agree that is a live and learn solitary world in bodybuilding, what works for some dont for others. Its purely a game of experience. Besides the medical degree, I had my CSCS (certified strength+conditioning specialist) which is slightly harder to come by than other training certifications. The only reason to get a certification is to add to what you charge to clients. There are some legal aspects to it all, but all lawyers can go to hell and burn (bros excluded). You can be a trainer without the certification, and what you will learn for the certificate is nothing compared to hard-gained experience. IP: Logged |
