HIT is actually based on the Nautilus principle of training. It is a one or two set max of an exercise in which you perform 8-12 reps per set for the upper body and 12-15 reps for the lower body. Of course those very with the individual.

The idea is to pick a weight that allows you to complete the set within the desired rep range if you make max reps you need to up the weight next time. If you don't, lower it by a few percent.

Each rep is a 2 second contraction a 1 second pause and a 4 second return to the start (negative). Of course that varies to, but never any faster. Always slower. I like to use a 2-4 second contraction 1 second pause and a 4-6 second negative. If you do it properly the most sets you will ever want to do per exercise is two. The pump is incredible and the stregnth gains phenomenal.

Mix it up with a regular workout. Pick a lagging body part and use HIT on it for a month while maintaining a regular workout every where else, then switch the bodypart for another... You get the idea. Any way all of thie info above is relative. It can be varied and should be on an individual basis (used instinctivelly).

Hope this helps.
