We have all heard of this supplement company. The CEO of this organization is Mr. William Nathaniel Phillips. Otherwise know as Bill Phillips. EAS was founded back in 1992, and has risen year after year. When this company joined up with Bill in 1994, he used his clever marketing skills through his magazine "Muscle Media 2000", which is what it was called back then, to promote his supplements. This magazine format was lets say very "hard core" for its day. Here is a quote from Bill Phillips in the September '96 issue of Muscle Media 2000, the article was entitled "Where We Stand on Steroids in General." P.11 -"I dont have any major moral issues with someone opening a bottle of Anavar and taking 5 tablets a day. I dont consider this unusual, unethical, or immoral at all." He continues...."I'm not totally against steroid use per se- I never have been and probably never will be." This was the format he started with in order to sell his supplements and push EAS. After a while I think Bill realized that he was going to have to change his saling approach if EAS was going to make any substantial profit. So he started these "Corvette Contests." At first he used the name PAS (Performance and Applied Science) for his contests, but he switched it to "The EAS Grandspokesperson Championship" in December of 1996. In this issue of Muscle Media 2000, he ingeniously decides to give away a Lamborghini Diablo as the top prize. Now, here is how the contest went. "There will be three different age classes, 18-29, 30-39, and 40 and over. There will be a division for people putting on as much size and strength as they possibly can (Catagory A)." From there on you get the idea. There was also a part of the contest that would judge a 400 word essay that the competitors had to write after completing a twelve week training program. They would then explain how they achieved there results and why they should be chosen as the spokesperson, combined with one before and one after photo holding a newspaper to mark the dates the gains were made. The main catch, which is what put EAS over the top was that the competitor had to stay "drug free", and of course only use EAS supplements. Oh, by the way the finalist were drug tested, but only by polygraph and urinalisis. Just as a note, the urine tests are given months, sometimes up to a year after the contest is over. Giving anyone free use of almost any illegal substance they want. Three finalists did fail the polygraph, but the results were tossed because of what I have always said, "the polygraph cannot tell you if a person is a liar." -This is what you need to know about this scammer.- 1- All his supplements are extremely over priced. 2- Bill uses his magazine and books to scare people into thinking his supplements are the only "quality" supplements available. 3- EAS never analized supplements from BIG companies who have the money and resources to defend themselves. Even after MUSCLE TECH failed a lab test for purity from an independent analysis. EAS still has not tested any of their products. They stick to small time companies no one has ever heard of before. 4- The contest EAS & company claim to have their hearts in will only let you compete if you buy their supplements. 5- All the finalists are extremely out of shape in their before pictures, and are no way trying to look in shape. (IE: relaxed guts, hunched backs, no flex in legs) 6- They use the essays to cover any contraversy about the outcome of the contests. 7- The drug test can easily be passed. Even if someone came up positive, they let the competitors use andro, so how could they tell for sure? They can't, and Bill will even admit it if he is specifically asked. **8** -In September of 96, Bill is all for the responsible use of anabolic steroids. He even is attempting to argue to congress that if a woman can have breast implants than a man should have the right to take steroids to cosmetically change his body. In DECEMBER '96, only 2 months and 2 issues later, this congessional quest to alter the steroid laws dissappears and he concentrates all his efforts on his so called "drug free" contests. **9** - IN MID 96 HE INTRODUCES HIS 3RD EDITION BOOK, "THE SPORTS SUPPLEMENT REVIEW." (informative book if you can see through his scamming.) I QUOTE HIM ONCE AGAIN..P198, "THE REAL BREAKTHROUGH ABOUT CYBERGENICS WAS THEIR ADDS -THEY TOOK THE BEFORE AND AFTER CONCEPT TO A WHOLE NEW LEVEL, FEATURING AMAZING PHYSIQUE TRANSFORMATIONS THAT PEOPLE ACTUALLY BELIEVED! Chinery knew how to sell." Chinery was the man who owned Cybergenics in the early to mid 90's. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT THIS TWO FACED PIECE OF SHIT IS DOING NOW. 10- They use a lot of psychology when selling in a wrong way. He is like a TV evangalist. He will tell you what you want to here then he wants your money. I want everyone to know that I am not saying that the finalists in these contests cheated. In fact you must give them all great respect for what they achieved. What I am saying is that it EAS is an overpriced company thats out their to scam you out of your money. Just listen to his own words about Cybergenics and their selling methods, you can't get much lower and hypocritical. c-1999 Exercise Inc/Ink IP: Logged |

I am asahmed to say it but up until 2 years ago I was a big fan of his. I took his products followed his advise and oh yea bought his steriod handbooks produced monthly back in the late 80's. Followed him as he introduced MET-RX to the world than creatine. Well one day I woke up when every philosihy he had changed to what it has become. They still send me there shitty magazine which I use to line the birds cage.(the bird like the ad for his stuff) The only good is that he does motivate people and does give time and money to charities. but back to his original quote its all about MARKETING IP: Logged |

WELL lets see HMB, CLA, their weak ass andro product, their designer protein rip off- bill phillips is indeed the devil. all kidding aside I feel that bill phillips was initially a very positive influence and cointerpoint to joe weider. However he has sold out is such a big way that it wipes out anything constructive he did with muscle media 2000 or EAS. WHAT!!!!!!?!??!?!?!? ------------------ IP: Logged |

I think when we all first started we all probably fell victim to supplement scams. Philips was by no means the first or last to do so. Personally, I also gave in to the EAS craze. Only thing that I found that worked was HP. I soon stopped because I did not like the water weight. The best weightlifting info I have found comes from right here. Keep up the good work fellas- IP: Logged |

I have to agree that he is quite a salesman, and have tried most of his products with little or no result, HOWEVER, I use EAS Myoplex Mass post workout formula, and am confident that it works. B4 I took it I couldn't get over 150lbs... Within 3 months, I was up to 164! I will admit though, that now, 3 months after that, I'm only 167... So maybe it was some other factor. IP: Logged |

What's the point to this article? Did you not win his contest? This is no new news, that EAS has contests. He is also a business man..gee imagine him blowing his own company horn..duh. If you don't like his sups don't buy them..PERIOD. Personally EAS has taught me a lot about proper nutrition and training. I am not a big fan of his sups, so guess what-I choose not to buy them. Nobody here tells you, you must take this or that to be Da'man. Relax, go take your shot, and move on. Flame is as Flame does. IP: Logged |

Newbe did misunderstand a lil. However, eas supplements r high quality with tesing 2 back up what these supplements do whether the tests r real or not who knows. The facts are that maybe these supplements do up this in th body n up that which is supposed 2 trigger a muscle growth response, but in reality it just does not trigger growth like the tests shows it should do on PAPER. In other words maybe in the test it does up this n up that but the supposedly growth is just on paper n in reality doesnt happen. Phillups n th rest of th guys pushing this stuff im quite sure is well aware of this. Waiter IP: Logged |

personally, i've never used EAS and won't. I think it is the most hyped up supplement company on the market. As for his magazine, I just look at the chics in there. I don't buy it, but if I see it in the gym or store, I look at the chics. Otherwise I think it is a piece of shit. There is nothing but pretty-boy bitches in his mag who are"natural". Whatever. The mag seems like a mag you read for general fitness and not for hardcore BB. I read flex cover to cover. That is more straight forward then MuslceMedia. MuscleMag has lots of nice bitches in there too, but they are alot of hype on MuscleTech. I do read the "Uncensored" by Greg Zulak and think that is a really good column. I don't know what happened to Flex with that..they used to have good articles on AS, but now they don't. Anyway that is my 2 cents. IP: Logged |

Have any of you tried EAS's Neurogain? This is one of the few supplements that I could actually feel working (unless you count ephedrine as a supplement!). It really helped me focus during tough workouts. I've tried their protein as well and all I can say is: it tastes nice... IP: Logged |

Newbie, don't be so ignorant. Did I lose his contest? Where did you come up with that one? Your reply had nothing to do with the article posted. If you would have read the other messgaes, you would have realized I was replying to another message that was previously posted. Bill Phillips is taking advantage of people who don't know any better. It's not about him selling supplements, it's about his credibility and what he has stated in the past. Bill Phillips has done so much juice that he should be ashamed about the crap he is preaching now. I think you need to read this article again because I think you read only part of it by your reply. Oh by the way, to anyone who thinks EAS supplements are quality. His supplements contain a lot more carbs and sugars than he claims. THATS A FACT, and thats why people gain the weight on HP.....it's mainly from sugar and carbs. Thats why you will lose all your weight you gained once off of them. Try three packs of sugar 3-5 times a day, and you will get the same scale results. I would wrather gain 5 lbs lean muscle of scale weight than gain 15 of water weight. The '99 Moment of truth showed that a lot of these "quality" supplements dont meet their labels claims. Both Muscle Tech and EAS failed -Before someone replys that the book is inaccurate, the only people to make that claim are the companies who failed.(Suprise, Suprise!) and Muscle Mag is the only ones who came up with a long detailed reason why this book is inaccurate. I had to laugh at them. Their explanation did not disprove this books credibility at all, it actually made themselves (Muscletech),look worse. The people who wrote this book are not endorsed by anyone, and have nothing to do with the supplement industry. They simply did the tests and printed the results. Thats why Muscle Tech could not take them to court. I personally believe the info in that book is correct. I believe in stating facts, nothing more. IP: Logged |
