i have been taking large amounts of insulin trying to get into ketosis over the past few days and nothing yet. i almost passed out from low blood sugar. im eating plenty and everything. i will discontinue the insulin use as there must be no trace of glucose in my body...does anybody know why i might not be entering into ketosis???

Ketosis takes time and should only be done through diet. Your playing with fire. Just eliminate both simple and complex carbs for about a week. You'll feel like hell and you'll be in ketosis. "Body Opus" has alot of good info on this. Be careful and Good Luck. IP: Logged |

Been there, done that! Your problem in one word: carbohydrates. You can use the insulin, but it is driving the glucose out of your blood and converting it into glycogen in your muscles. Eliminate carbs completely, stick with proteins. If you want, I can e-mail an article to you on how to do this. E-mail me and let me know if you want... [email protected] IP: Logged |

Bro, Be careful with insulin! If your blood sugar is that low, you are probably already in ketosis. If you are using ketostix to determine your level of Ketones, don't forget that they are measuring the amount of Ketones NOT being used for fuel. If you have an active life style and attempt to measure ketones in the afternoon, the sticks will probably not show a change in color even though you are in ketosis. Therefore the best and only time you can accurately measure is upon waking in the morning before the ketones are used as energy. Another problem could be your diet. What is the ratio of fat and protein you are eating? You will not be able to reach ketosis if your protein is to high because in a no carb diet, high amounts of protein will be broken down to sugar and used as fuel. You should be eating around 70-80% fat for the first few days in order to drive your body into deep ketosis. Once you are in ketosis, it would be O.K. to up your protein to 35 - 40% of your daily calories. IP: Logged |

dino strong.....i must comend you sir... your right...the ketones that show on the strips are representing the excess ones not used. well my legs were so sore this morning that i decided i couldnt do my cardio at the gym so i stayed home, tested in the morning and im in ketosis. now im happy and now its time to train like a freak and burn burn burn those calories...

hmmm, now why does everybody keep saying that to me??? strange. i dose right i train right i eat right, i research before i do things...im not one of those guys that wakes up in the morning and reaches into a steroid grab bag and pulls out whatever...something different every day, ahhh, this will do just fine for today. no, but i do sometimes go to extremes.
