The problem is I start my cycle of sust next week and dont plan on eating any ricecakes or jogging in the near future. If I take a lot of eca while training hard and eating like a horse, will I be able to shed a few pounds!!!!Thanks for your help. Luke PS. I know those fat calculators are full of crap and only work on sedetary bus drivers- I'm sure im not 15%- but still would i be able to lose some blubber??? IP: Logged |

I am a big advocate of fat in the diet. However, in must be in the form of good fats such as flax oil and safflower oil that contain essential fatty acids to support growth and add some extra cals. What I would watch out for are the simple sugers or high glycemic carbs. I would keep the foods to a minimum that will shoot your insulin levels up and kick in the fat storage. Alot of foods that people think digest slow are in reality high glycemic. You can do web searches and find many list of glycemic indexes. Just as I saw you mention rice cakes, those things are in the bad category on the index. I try to keep my carbs limited to the one that are below 70 and add some fat to every meal to make it even lower cause it will slow the digestion. kpumpin IP: Logged |

Hye if you used one of those things that you hold on to and it sends an electrical charge through your body then gives you the b/f % they suck!!! My friend did a water test at university of texas and he was at 7%. with the electrical thing he was shown to be at 14%....i see a margin of error of about 50%...but that could be bad too it could be 50% the other way tooooo...ouch!! Hey Yo, I completely agree with kpumpin on keeping fat in your diet as some fats are very useful. Flaxseed oil is great as well as fish oils, both of which can be taken in pill form as they both are really gross. Load up on your carbs early in the day and cut them out after 6pm, as your metabolism naturally slows at this point. C/E/A stacks are definately a plus when shedding bodyfat. Save your simple sugar intake for right after your workout to replace your glycogen stores and keep the body out of the catobolism range as well as supressing cortisol. Keep your BMR 500cal. under your normal intake and you should be fine. Oh and one more thing, its definately a plus to take your creatine mixed with say your grape juice after a workout, as in this case the the sugar from the juice will be exploded in a sense into the muscle through digestion and the creatine will catch a nice piggy back ride. Its easy to get caught up in all the hype, but the fact is calories in general is more important than carbs, are fat, for losing weight. Cut the saturated fat, and high glycemic foods though and even the protein if your more worried about cutting cause protein can make you fat too. IP: Logged |

Protein = fat? Thats definately new to me, but I wonder how this could be considering a good proteins source is nothing more than undigested amino acids? I would also say if that were the case then why do high pro low carb low fat diets work so well for people including pro bodybuilders? If anything when dieting down jack your protein up. This is done to preserve muscle so that it is not burned and consumed for energy considering your low carb intake. I would say about 1.5g of protein per body lb. per day, hell more if you can fit it in. Good Luck Man. IP: Logged |
