I'm using an 18g needle to draw from primo amps, but it seems like I only get about 2/3 of a cc from ea. amp. The amp is full and I draw from the head, too, when I snap it off -- so why the hell is the syringe not reading a full cc?

Well, perhaps they are underfilled. Brovel gets away with it all the time. However, I can recall any of the primos I have use to be underfilled, but that sounds like the problem.

The primo is Schering so I hope it's not underfilled.

I think the problem is that the sharp bias cut of the 18g doesn't fit well with the small primo amps, so a lot of the liquid ends up getting left in the amp.

Or the problem is that because I end up drawing so much air when I'm trying to get all the liquid (I end up pulling the plunger all the way back on a 3cc syringe) that I'm losing a lot when I push the plunger back in.

I had the same problems with drawing primo into the syringe. Not the 2/3cc, but I always seemd to have to pull the plunger the entire 3cc to get all of it. It's very thick, and I found that holding the amp(un-opened) under warm running water can help. Also, when I pull the plunger to the 2cc mark, I stop & get most of the air back & then I draw the rest. It helps to keep you from wasting so much, because there is still some in the needle.

Here's something else to try. 1- definitely run the amp under hot water first; 2- after you break the top off, turn (use quick motion) the amp upside down; Now, as you pull the primo out watch where the end of the pin is; Try to keep it in the middle of the fluid. This will allow you to pull all of the fluid out without trying to pull it off the side of the amp. The needle stays in the middle. Trust me it works!

OK, I'll try running it under water. That makes a lot of sense.

delray-- I don't understand what you mean by turning the amp upside down. What do you use to keep the oil from running out?

bump, I'm interested in the upside down technique also. What stops the primo from falling out of the amp when you turn the amp over or is it too thick to fall out quickly?

When you pop it open, are you sure you're not losing some of what is in the stem?
I pound the amp on my palm until it is all in the bottom and there is nothing left in the stem. I always got a CC out of the Schering amps. One time I had almost 1.5. I felt lucky that day.

I've never had that problem. Schering has always had the right dosages in mine. 18 gauge is a big ass pin! Or maybe I'm just a sissy. LOL I usually just get 21 gauge.
