Hello people! Is it good when you are sore from your last workout? Does that mean that your muscles is damaged and will start to repair itself and get stronger/bigger ? Can you increase your muscular size/strenth WITHOUT having to be sore? Or soreness is a good sign, sign that you worked your muscle hard. And thus you HAVE to be SORE. But what if muscle is sore for 5-6 days? Is that very good or can it be detrimental to size gains? I can get my legs so sore , it is not even funny. I almost puked this wednesday after 30 minutes of leg/lower back torture... I can still feel pain in my legs... And going upstairs is a B**** . Anyone knows the answer? Anyone works out like me?

Hey Alex, I share your pain. After a day of heavy squats or deadlifts, I will be sore for almost an entire week. I believe the human body is an adaptive organism. When we lift weight, we are forcing our bodies to handle greater and greater resistance. As long as you are not overtraining, I would say you are growing stronger. There are things I do that seem to help with soreness: Advil, sit in the sauna, drink lots of water, and eat enough protein. I have even started to get a student massage ($20/hr) once a week, and that feels great as well. No one said it would be easy, it will just be worth it. gl, hf.

NO, muscle soreness is not necessary for the stimulation of muscle growth. I hardly ever get noticeably sore. When you are sore that means you went way past the stimulation point and your body is giving you the redlight. Being sore now and then is ok, but not after every workout. I only get sore when I switch things up, like change my sets and reps, or change exercises. ------------------ |
