I got into this discussion with my sports nutrition professor the other day. My argument was this

If you consider an athlete that uses testosterone "un-natural" then you must consider the athlete that uses creatine "un-natural" as well. Testosterone, is a naturally occurring substance in the body, so is creatine. All you are doing is supplementing your body with extra amounts. Sounds like the same principle behind taking creatine to me. Some will say that the way testosterone is administered is un-natural, which by injection can be true. But if you look at creatine supplements, not one of them is creatine phosphate, which is the naturally occurring from of creatine. Creatine monohydrate or citrate does not exist naturally in the body, yet those are the forms of the supplement that you buy. The monohydrate and citrate are transporters for the creatine, does not sound too natural to me.
I went further, saying that I think that taking a testosterone ester is safer than taking a creatine supplement. Testosterone replacement has been around for more than 50 years; creatine supplementation has been around for about 7-10, and only popular within the last 5 years. Testosterone has had more studies on it then creatine has, and has been shown to more effective (obviously). Also, creatine has not been around long enough to determine what the effect of long-term use is. So I feel that taking a testosterone ester, is more natural, and safer than taking a creatine supplement. So the next time some dork brags that he is 100% natural, and he is holding a bottle of Phoshagen HP in is hand, smack him upside his head, and relish in the fact that he is as un-natural as you are!

I have had this same argument with people. When people say they are 'natural', I think what they are realy saying is that they are 'legal'.

Think about all of the other 'natural' sups. on the market; prohormones, HMB, GABA etc..

The truth is out there? Anyone know the URL?

No actually it isn't the same thing. They are both found in the body which is true but u can also get creatine from meats, not a lot but you can. Test is a hormone. Hormones are a lot different than a supplement. Does that mean protien is considered not being natural too?

Shoot as some one who went through the HPER plan in college I thing your Prof is nuts. Its a classic example of "I don't know what I'm talking about" and "My stuff is ok but yours isn't"

It you want natural then I argue anyone who ingestest, injects, inhales (you get the direction here) anything other then prepared food is not natural. The moment you drop a vitamin or an amino the natural arguement is out the window. So tell the holyer then though professor to take a leap.

What is considered natural nowadays? Skip Lacour, LOL? Nothing we do as bodybuilders is natural in comparison to the average joe. Taking in 10x's the amnt of creatine our body produces is not natural, taking in roughly 250-1000xs the natural test our body produces is not natural, taking in 2-4 times the amount of protein and calories the average person takes in is not natural, and lifting 10xs as much weight as the average person is not natural.
