I think its from straining really hard. I get red marks that start at my neck and go down to my delts, looks almost like claw marks. I get them when i do heavy excercises like deads, squats or leg presses.

It sounds like broken blood vessels. It should go away in a few days.

all the time, it's cool. One of the guys says that he didn't have a good workout unless he gets those red marks.

Dude - they're from the standing calf machine. At least in my case, I wondered about those for a while until I realized - duh - calf machine marks.

I thought the same thing until i noticed them when i did the leg press machine. nothing was touching my shoulders.. then it happened when i did heavy deads......
