This one steel dumbbell at my gym is loose where the little bar goes in to octogon(I guess that is what you call it)part. Like the weld broke.

My question is I use that 55lbs dumbbells to warm up for chest. And I would hate that part of the dumbbell to break off and fall on my face.

I have complained to the gym already too.

I would recommend not to use the broken D-Bells. It is not worth it to get a broken nose just to stay at that weight. If that is just a worm up set just drop to 50lbs and add a few more reps.

if its just a warm up weight... go a little heavier, like 60, and grow some hair on that chest...(not literally, you'll just have to shave it off for contest)

I haven't used 55lb dumbbells since I was 8 years old!!! LOL..just kidding! Just use the 50's for warm ups and tell somebody at the gym that they could get sued if that thing hurts somebody. It will be fixed very quickly I can assure you.

You're right I will try that tonight.

Plifter,

What happened with the guy that got hit in the head with lat pulldown bar?

Man, I would but I pay a $100 a year for both me and my old lady. It is a community fitness center(so it is also paid for by the lazy people in town) and it is two block from my house.

You just can't beat that huh even with the broken dumbbell and all.

Hey fellas,
Some dude at the gym broke the mirror by the dumbell rack because he didnt put it back on correctly and the thing fell off and hit the mirror, cracking it. Now there is ducktape on the mirror by the dumbells and it looks hilarious. Later bros!!!!!

The guy that got bashed in the head with the lat pull left on his own that night after he regained conscousness. He wasn't out a long time. The paramedics came but they didn't take him to the hospital. I don't know if he sued or not but I didn't see him in the gym after that. That had to have hurt like a bitch!

Man, you guys are spoiled. Dave Draper says he used to workout with broken dumbells gussied together with bits of twine and rubber bands.

You need to make the dumbell unique, so that other people do not use it and make it break again. I suggest wrapping an old jock-strap around both ends of the DB.
