Man, I guess I do. And I think it helps. I think I can get one or two more reps when I grunt and groan.

I don't know if it actually helps but mentally for me it does.

Well what about ya'll are y'all grunters or quiet lifters?

I usually let out some grunts towards the end of my sets, I feel it definitely helps get those last couple reps in there. But I try to keep somewhat quiet, as not to sound like an ass doing it.

Just like in martial arts, when you strike, add a little 'yell', it helps focus your energy. I can't claim to understand why, but it does work, and it probably works for most weightlifters too.

Sometimes I grunt when I lift and sometimes I hold my breath, I'm not sure why. I don't really pay much attention to it. I do grunt more when I squat or deadlift

I honestly believe a little grunt at beginning of a rep or the the hardest part of a rep helps me get the weight up. Just keep it low, I hate it when people bellow. Its like "everyone look at me."

I try not to do that stuff, but for some reason when I get heavy on squats, I cant help it. I start graunting. Not even on purpose, just happens.

I don't usually grunt or groan when I lift. But my face turns beat red every set and all the veins in my forehead come bulging out.

I can't stand grunters and groaners. I think it's all an act to get attention.
