Hey bros,

I did some research and emailed Dr. Lee about it. The new drug "Dutasteride", which inhibits both the type 1 and type II 5-AR enzymes, will be available for prescription THIS YEAR!!! This drug will be enough for someone to keep their existing hair, and also re-establish their hairline. Here is what Dr. Lee said about it.....

"If you access the Glaxo-Wellcome website at http://www.glaxowellcome.com/pipeline.htm, click on Research & Clinical Studies, then click on Research and Development Pipeline Studies, you will find GI198745 (dutasteride) under the category of Gastrointestinal, Pain & Endocrine.

It is listed accordingly: Compound/Type: GI98745 5-alpha reductase inhibitor; Indication: benign prostatic hyperplasia; Phase: III ; MAA*: 2001; NDA**: 2000

Apparently, an NDA has been filed with the FDA and dutasteride should be available by prescription in 2001 in the U.S.A.

*MAA - marketing authorization application
**NDA - new drug application (USA)

Best wishes,

Richard Lee, M.D.

It might not be available when you think it will!!!

"This is incredible news. However there is just one small problem, Glaxo Wellcome have pulled the plug on the final phase of the hair loss clinical studies required for FDA approval. This information was obtained during an exclusive interview with Dr Marty Sawaya, a hairloss researcher who was involved in the clinical studies. Dr Sawaya appeared on consumer advocate Spencer Kobren's show on November 27th 1999 and revealed this very distressing information."

This is true, but it was just submitted to the FDA for approval to treat BPH and will be available late this year. It will be easy to get a doctor (most likely Dr. Lee) to prescribe it for hairloss. It will not be the cure though by any means. It's been reported that the results are better than finasteride, but no one knows how much yet. It will probably be better at stopping hairloss but anti-androgens don't REGROW hair that well by themselves. MPB is a multifactoral disease, and anti-androgens have limits as far as what they can do. I'm looking forward to dutasteride but don't be thinking that it will be the cure all. It will just reduce more dht than finasteride by blocking both types 1 and 2 alpha reductse as opposed to just type 2 (finasteride). It will hopefully work for those people where finasteride doesn't

I don't know anything about hairloss but was reading above and was wondering what causes the hair loss from juice. Is it the androgen side of it?

Does that mean a mild product like proviron could cause hair loss?

Just wondering cos, and I might be imagining things here/being paranoid, but my hair seems to have thinned out after just 3 weeks of a dbol and proviron cycle!! Anything I can do?!!

The company is Glaxo Wellcome and they are already huge. If propecia is an indicator of success, dutasteride might not do that well. Propecia sales are extremely low.

Androgens cause hairloss. Dbol and proviron will definitely accelerate hairloss if you are predisposed to MPB. dbol is actually one of the worst roids on hair.
