no way??? I was watching the 500 earlier and shut it off after the 18 car pile up... Did he get killed in the race, or afterwards???

Last lap in turn 4. Sterling Marlin came up just a bit and tapped Dale sent him straight into the wall. ESPN said he died instantly when he hit the wall. From tramua to the back of the head and masive chest injuries.

well, this is definitely a tragic day for me and many others. Growing up here in NC, and now living in charlotte, i was born into racing. I still race late model stock cars and have been racing since i was 7. Dale Earnhardt has been a hero of mine for as long as i knew what racing was. The man was definitely the greatest of all time and will me missed.

The last lap of the Daytona has forever been cursed on Earnhardt. How many times can a guy be leading and lose on the last lap of the race. For christ sakes, the guy had his tires flattend, been wrecked, RAN INTO A DAMN PIGEON (fucking bird), and now has lost his life on the last lap of that track.
