Aside from the liver issues, alcohol has lots of calories in it. while I'm on I only drink Guiness, it has less alcohol, therefore less calories and for me personally it usually last longer. but I also gon't go out to get loaded, I just go out to be with friends, so I'll only have 3 or 4 beers over the course of the evening, which isn't enough to get anyone drunk.

It will totally screw up your gains. Plus, you can get gyno much worse. I'm not sure of the exact science behind that (ask a mod), but it's true.

I live in a fraternity house and have to deal with this problem almost every night. I end up getting drunk a couple times a week, which in my case is not too bad considering most of my bros drink about 5 or 6 nights out of the week. Drinking will definatley hinder your gains, but probably not as bad as most these guys like to think. If drinking has a high priority in your life, then fuck it. You can still grow, a lot, and drink at the same time. Even the idolized Arnold admitted to drinking beer while cycling. In summary, it just depends on where your priorties lie. If the trade offs are worth it to YOU, then YOU should do what YOU need to.

I try to stay away from drinking as much as possible, but I don't preach against it. Everyone has to let loose and drink once in a while, whether or not you're on a cycle. If you really want to drink, then just do it. One night a week will not hinder your gains an extreme amount. Just don't go getting faded every damn night. As a matter of fact, I was just studying up on alcohol comsumption, and learned that moderate drinkers have better health than non-drinkers. there are many good effects from light drinking. I'll post 'em later.

So how long have you known Arnold personally?

That excuse is lame as hell to me. If you don't have the discipline to stop drinking for 8 weeks you have no buisness doing AS. Just by saying you would rather cut the dbol out of your cycle rather than drinking leads me to believe that you aren't that serious about this. It isn't like taking creatine. There ARE health risks involved in taking steroids. Why would you want to compound them by drinking. Believe me, I have gone thru an illness myself recently(cancer) and do not want to feel like that ever again. This question gets asked way to often for it not to be common sense...

Blakek, Heres the deal, I drink when I am on a cycle, just not to heavy...Once a week usually and sometimes I roll..."X". Seriosuly, I honestly believe tjhat it does not do to much to gains...Moderation is key, drink lots of water when you are done. Take the right vitamins...Half the fun of lifting and getting the perfect physique is showing it off in a club, bar or party...Let the flames begin.....

Your right Daeo about people already having their mind made up.

My point is, I think that what Drinking really fucks up the most is your motivation.

It is Impossible do go out and have a lengthy drinking night, wake up take all your vits., Protein, etc... THen get your hungover ass to the gym. Or its impossible for me at least.

I know it can be tough about the drinking thing can be tough. I was Rush Chairman this summer and all that good stuff. Just drink water, take Vit C, and Drink more water... Try and stay away from Whiskey, Temper, and my Kidneys seem to always fucking kill me.

You know your body, take care of it.

Don't listen to Juggernaut, he is an alcoholic and a chronic lier. If it is going to be a little difficult for you to stop cold turkey I would suggest drinking wine. Atleast this way wine is a little better for you and is good for your heart. By no means, however, does this mean it is perfectly okay to get wasted as long as it is wine....

A lot of the strength and mass gains will be because of water retention. Alcohol is a diuretic, meaning it's going to make you lose water. Plus it's an extra strain for your liver to deal with besides the anabolics. Here's a little comparison for you.
My first cycle I did dbol, test ena. and deca. I took my training very serious, didn't drink at all, ate very well, and got good sleep.
My friend did the same cycle, and we both weighed about the same when we started and had the same height(we had very similiar bodies, he was my competition in college because we wrestled the same weight class). He partied a lot, drank a good amount, didn't eat the greatest, but trained almost as hard as I did. . . note the ALMOST.
I gained 33 pounds, my friend gained 8.

Very good post Corleone.

I personally don't understand why people have such a hard time with dedicating 8 weeks of their life to eating, sleeping and training perfectly to get the most out of a cycle. I don't know about some of you, but gear is a little tough for me to obtain, so when I do get it, I put forth MAXIMUM effort to get every ounce of muscle that I can.

Sure, you can drink, but is there some reason why you can't??? Is there someone holding a gun to your head making you drink??? Are the beer companies holding your family hostage and threatening to kill them if you don't drink???

If someone has a problem with you not drinking, then go back in 8 weeks when you're 20-30 lbs heavier and kick their skinny drunken ass!!!

You say you are around buddies drinking 24/7? Well frat life is like that. What you need to think about is your liver. E2 had an excellent post on liver protection. If you are going to juice then I would not suggest drinking. If you do drink MODERATELY try and drink a glass of water for every shot or beer. Peer pressure is a bitch. I work at a VERY busy bar and we drink at work. But not when I am on a cycle. I tell the other guys to let me off the hook for a while and they usually do. 8 to 10 weeks is not that long. Just take it easy and look what you will gain in the end. Why waste money on juice and alcohol? Take it easy and good luck.

I dont understand why you would want to drink if its going to effect your gains. Personally, i dont. I just feel that it is a waste of money on alcohol that could be going to your next quality cycle. Empty calories that beer have are a waste and dont need to be taken. Thats my 2 cents worth. But i am sure you can make some gains while drinking, you just wont peak like others will.

Think of this way blakek, while all your buddies are drinking 24/7, you'll be getting laid 24/7. I get so much more attention from ladies now that I have a body they can't turn down. Sacrafice a little and the rewards will be plentiful. If you want to make the health factors worse, and lessen your gains go ahead and drink, no one's stopping you, but just think about the future. I'm just the type of person that when I do something, I do it all the way, I wouldn't want anything to hinder my gains.

Bro, the truth is it wil inhibit some growth.....or appearance of growth. Alcohol is a diuretic and the main strength and size gains on a androgenic product is "WATER". I drink on mass cycles all the time and grow equally with all my buddies who "live the clean life" and juice.

The Key is very simple, Hydration and vitamin/mineral replacement. I have used beer to make it easier to consume more calories per day but I needed to preparation.

1) Take a strong mutli-vit before starting to drink because you wil flush pout huge amounts of vit/min because of the increased urination.

2) Use sodium or food products with higher sodium levels with the drinking.

3) Lastly, before going to sleep have a minimum of a quart of gatorade w/ creatine infused in it. Its tough but gulp it down even if you have eaten already before bed. Keep another by your bed as you get up to pee gulp down more through the night.

4) Continue to hydrate and take another multivit in the morning.

I used this method through my college years and just added 2-3 aspirin before bed and 2-3 after waking the next morning on my hard weekends. THis will have you performing at a near optimal level considering the situation.

This is almost as stupid of a question as "Gee...do I really need to work out on my cycle, or will I gain without going to the gym?"

It's all about motivation and how bad you want it.

That said, no, don't drink.

Alcohol definitey hinders the effects of your friend Testosterone and assists the effects of your enemy Estrogen. If you do drink while on a cycle, you're both adding to the stress on you liver and preventing yourself from getting the benefits of being on the cycle. You really should do one or the other, it makes no sense to do both. Especially if you get drunk. This is brutal on the human body. Even if it is only once per week, if you're getting drunk, your body doesn't fully recover from that for days.
