Fellas, I am interested in eca, but I have had problems with panic attack in the past. Does eca give you that serious edgy feeling?
First, about the panic attack, it hit me like a bullet. I was watching tv one night, and boom, my heart was racing, I was nearly hyperventilating, and I was convinced that it was a heart attack. I came from nowhere, but if you have not been there, you cannot understand the terror of knowing that you are dying. Well, it hit me again a few more times before I saw a doc, and long story short, he told me the following: Think of your body like a balloon. When you have stress and do not release it, it is like taking a breath into a balloon. Sooner or later, without release, that balloon is going to pop, and basicly, your body popped. And the sorry thing is, fear of having a panic attack creates another panic attack. It sucks, and I would truly not wish it on my worst enemy, but it is a truly physiological reaction to stress, and those of you have been there can attest, it is a serious bitch. There are medications that work well, and I am doing fine now. Back to my question though, how does ECA make you feel? Is it mild, medium, or a practically unbearable edgy feeling? Thanks in advance.

I am on a prescription medication for anxiety and panic attacks, I have been taking ephedrine for quite awhile and haven't had any problems I'm not advising it just giving you my experience

Regarding anxiety/panic attacks and ephedrine/caffeine:

About a year ago, I started getting panic attacks. They were more like mini-attacks. Heart beat slightly increased, but severe anxiety that something was wrong, shortness of breath, palpitations, etc.

Long story short... I saw a couple of docs including a cardiologist and a psych doctor.
The cardiologist confirmed that my heart was very healthy and the psych gave me some great advice. We talked about juice as well as OTC stimulants. He recommended coming off things that accelerated the heart and brain (alpha and beta stimulants) until I got my anxiety under control. We tried an assortment of meds.

The upshot of the whole deal... after about 1/2 year of misery, I reconciled the whole thing within my head. Occasionally, I still get the mild anxiety but it is easily controllable. I have started incorporating ephedrine and caffeine back into my training with no ill effects, but I am also on a prescription Beta Blocker (think of this as anti-ephedrine) which I take immediately after the workout.

If you still experience panic and anxiety, beta-blockers are a very benign way to help out. Then there's always the tried and true, Valium and its benzo cousins.

Bottom line: get a good doc who will listen and has treated athletes and lay off the ephedrine until the anxiety is under control.

Peace,

Find a great Hypnotherapist. No joke here. 80% of what a lot of Docs will throw a pill at you for can be fixed by having a good Hypnotherapist provide you with a strategy to relax, and let out the tension.

They can also provide you a way to assist in your motivation for working out as well.

It jacks me way up. I would not use if you have a heart condition, hypertention, or any cardio-pulminary disorder.

Ok, I have something kindalike anxiety attacks. When I'm around large groups of people, I tend to get all the symptoms. I noticed strangely however, that when taking an ECA, the feeling seemed to subside. But, everyone once and a while, and this only happens when I'm by myself, I get this feeling that something is terribly wrong, and my heart starts to be fast as hell. Once i take a few deep breaths and start to relax (sometimes it happens when I'm driving, and I pull over) everything is ok.

Let us go out this evening for pleasure. The night is still young.

Anxiety is related to brain chemistry (seretonin, norep, ep, dopamine). ECA alters levels of ep/norep.

Because of this (and personal experience) I would not recommend it.

BTW -- I had a MILD anxiety disorder which cascaded into a LARGE anxiety disorder because of ECA.

Don't do it, it is not worth it.

Smoking herb could cause you to have an attack, I have seen this before. If your not use strong herb, it can cause this reaction.

If your used to the strength of the herb, then it may help.
