All that is telling you is the routes it takes to get from your ip to his ip.
And that persons IP is owned by his internet provider, not him. So there's no way you can figure out his info without contacting the internet provider, find out what user is logged in using that IP, and this is information they won't disclose to anybody

if you use zonealarm, it logs all attempts into your computer, so that you can send this info. to ISP and hopefully they would stop this person from hacking. if you are not using zonealarm, try hacketracer or neotrace, both good programs to combat hackers. hope this helps.

I keep my computer on all day with the cable connection and I have been using Norton Internet Security for a few months. I get several hits a day where it logs the IP address and the virus they are trying to put into my computer. So far it has blocked everything but it pisses me off that someone is trying to screw my computer up. If I know the IP address how do I find out who it belongs to. I would like to put some heads through some walls too!

I'm using zone alarm and BlackIce. Both are great. Ulter, how did you get that info? That's what I'm looking for because yes if it doesn't stop soon I'm going to smack someone down with a keyboard and choke them with their mouse cord. I know that the hops are different routers but I wanted to get the end info that Ulter gave me. Thanks all! Later, Green

What type of intrusion is ZA or BlackIce reporting? If it is of UDP, or various TCP port scans (NNTP, server, etc.) type, there is not much to worry about. However if the firewalls are reporting a trojan horse scan, then it will be worth your while to scan your PC for trojans. Visit http://www.moosoft.com and download their trojan scanner which has a 30 day free trial. Install it and let the software scan your local drives for trojans.

If you want to report this intrusion, then send an e-mail to the ISP of this intruder (Technology Borkers Int'): [email protected].

For future reference, visit http://www.all-nettools.com and use their network tools for identification of the intruders.

Good luck.

okay guys, for those of you who want to know ...Zone alarm is a "firewall" it stops programs on your computer from accessing the internet, without you permission, and it stops outside intrusion into your computer,Hell I even had zone alarm notify me the other day that some websiite that I had visited wanted to use my computer a a server!@ to get the program go to www.c-net.com or www.zonealarm.com....I have visited safesurfer.com and they tried thier best , with my permission , to break in to my computer , but they could not even detect a computer was thier.

Just remember this I to have a cable connection and use Zone Alarm your system sends pings out everytime you use the internet and a lot of time they bounce back to you and you ping yourself if you have a firewall then dont worry about the pings if its set up right they cant get in thats whats really important

That's right. Also if you have instant message programs like ICQ, AIM, etc. they will ping you too and it will look like someone's trying to get in. ICQ is the worst about this. Most hackers won't try and get into the "regular" computer user like most of us are because there isn't a reason to. Only if you've really pissed someone off or if you have something valuable in your computer will they even bother. @home also polls its customers and it will look like a sub seven trojan attack. I doubt any of those pings you guys are worried about are hacking attempts.

That 209 is the same thing my ip starts with so I'm thinking they might live somewhere in illinois.
But you gotta understand they aren't always hacking you, if someone even sends you a message through icq those gayass antiviruses will think they are attacking you.
all those ips it went through are the different servers that their "attack" was sent through.

Zone alarm is much better than Black Ice. I'm no system admin yet but am working on it. And let me tell you guys if someone really wanted to get into your sys they could. All this 128 bit encrypted email is a joke. Anybody that has a little time to read up on hacking can break it. I couldn't tell you how but I've talked to people that just laughed when I asked about 128 bit. There was even an artcle that hackers brought to the attention of microsoft. There's a key in the registry called nsa.? (forgot the extension.) A lot of people believe it is a backdoor for the NSA to get into anybody's computer. Of course MS denies it.

Like I said bro I couldn't do it b/c I just don't have the time to learn. I've just talked to some people that know how. It's pretty interesting talking to hackers though. They make you realize how vulnerable you really are. But as for me I couldn't do it if my life depended on it. Trying to learn linux right now but just don't have the time.

hey delinquent, you should check out distributed.net. They have been trying to crack 64 bit and they have thousands of computers on it and it has taken over 3 years so far. they cracked 56bit in around a month I think and another group showed that dedicated hardware can break 56 bit in less than that (I think it was 3-8 days, somewhere in there).

but if you are claiming that you've read up on encryption, you might want to read up some more. encryption is one of my hobbies, and there is no way in hell any of your friend can break 128 bit encryption in this lifetime. unless they work at the NSA. the NSA has a shitload of dedicated computer hardware to throw at that stuff and they won't allow various encryption models to be released in different areas unless they can break it in what they consider a reasonable amount of time. the amount of time and effort that goes into it as the bit size increases is exponential - 128 is fucking huge. and all of the really good systems use more than that anyway.

and the MS NSA key that you are talking about made national news a few months ago, but if you do a search it has been proved over and over again (by both sides - MS and its detractors) that it has nothing to do with THE NSA, it is just a comment and variable name leftover and it stands for something relative to the program. was it dumb to leave something hardcoded in - sure - did it have anything to do with a back door - no - did it have anything to do with the NSA - not at all.

if you look for a conspiracy, you can find what looks like one in all facets of life - but read up on Ockham's Razor, you might learn something.
and read around on slashdot.org - they are linux advocates and hate MS, and even they showed that the NSA thing had nothing at all to do with the goverment agency.

Most hackers are full of crap bro.
Give one of your hackers an 8bit twofish and they won't be able to identify the algorithm, let alone crack it.

Happy has a point.
But something to remember is that computer encryption (including steganography) is P not NP. Meaning, they are simply a mathematical function, albeit the string is so complex that without a portion of the key it is not easily broken. The algorithms are designed specifically because comuter chips cannot break them without the key.

The NSA has a set of machines with chipsets designed to decrypt the strings.

It is a myth that using many computers clustered makes it easier to break encryption. That's like saying a thousand Yugos can get to the moon simply because it's a lot of horsepower.
It's the wrong machine for the job.

But Delinquent, pass this on to your hacking buddy and see how long it takes him to crack it......
