Leg press is for show, hit the squat rack, don't worry about the # of plates you can pile on the sled. . .some are much easier than others. Free weight lifts are the only true test of overall strength.

taking a week off sometimes to do leg presses instead of squats I think is good, but hard for me to do since i'm pretty much programmed that I must squat.
Actaully, I rarely touch a leg press anymore.

last time i hit leg press i got 12 plates on each side. i've been doing squats lately and nixing the leg press. i think if i were to do it today i couldn't do 12 plates total.

Leg press poundage ranges seem to depend alot on leverage. At 5'5" I can leg press alot more than six footers with more developed legs and bigger squats. To me it just seems sorta silly and a waste of time, because even though I bring my knees to my chest, I don't have to push the sled that far.
