If someone was to reformat their hard drive using the windows 98 disc, will it wipe all current information off of my hard drive making it unreteivable by any authorities? I know things can be retreived even when cleared from the recycle bin, but will reformatting the entire drive take care of this problem? Thanks

It is still retrievable but is very costly to retrieve it so they more than likely wouldnt unless you have been bad.

they can still retreive it bro , the only way for them not to is to get a totaly new hard drive and toss the old one ! you'll loose everything but it's all safe ! i work at IBM and deal with this shit all day long , it's expensive but it does rid your worries ! ------------------

A low level format will get rid of any instance of information on the hard drive. The right low level will first write 1's to all the sectors on the drive then it will write 0's to all the sectors. Once completed there is no more informtion on the drive. And the only reason they would even try to take the time and recreate data off of your HDD is if you either one a main drug lord, or two threatened the president in any way. Local goverment is not real likly to even bother unless you are running a huge operation. |
