My dad had to help me get into it and it took along time to get out of it. It hurts to bench and I can't walk normally with it on.. my arms stick way out. Is this the way its suppose to be? I looked so funny so I walked wiht my arms crossed in the gym. =)

Maybe try this question on the powerlifting board, there might be some people over there that could offer better info. Not a flame, just figuring that more often powerlifters use those bench shirts, and therefore could offer better advice.

yes a bench shirt will be tight and make you look fuuny. but does it help your bench? i found it helps a great deal blowing the bar off your chest, but you need strong tri's to lock it out!

that's the idea bro....IT HAS TO BE TIGHT!!!!! or else it won't do the job.
Your arms are going to stick out like that and it sure IS a pain to get on....the tighter the better!!! INZER is the best!!! for those in the power lifting circle.

Block out the pain and make sure that youstart pushing at the bottom....don't let the shirt do the work at the bottom and expect to take over when the shirt cuts out ...

I tried one years ago and it was so tight I had broken blood vessels around my shoulders when I took it off.

It feels like your arms are spring loaded when benching. I did 40 pounds more over my max with the shirt on.

Used to love my bench shirt actually still have it. . .my deadlift shirt and my squat singlet in the closet too. . .unfortunately I bought them, had them made back when I was about 215, 35 pounds later they are like kids clothes to me know. It should hurt, your arms should stick out and whatever your max used to be should increase by nearly 50lbs if you technique and shirt fit correctly.

i wonder if the shirts really work? sure you can do more but its the equivalant of getting a spot so you are really not doing the weight.

what do you bench?

Yes this is the way it is supposed to be. Getting out of it should be easy though. Just have someone pull up on the bottom of the shirt while you drop to your knees. It will peal right off. Many lifters are now cutting the backs of their shirts up to chest level to make it easier to put on. This may not be legal in some lifting federations however.
