I've decided to untake a little project.. one in which I am going program a new Web based bulletin board software - one simliar to that which is used here.. EXCEPT.. with security.. like new user voting.. for those of you who don't know what that is.. well let me give you a little rundown.. the mods and users of this board complain that the new users here are shameful, that they post questions about sources and post sources themselves.. that they ask questions that have already been asked a billion times.. that these boards are filled with FBI agents and scammers.. etc.. well suppose you were to have a group of highly respected moderators voting on which users were allowed to become members of the board? Of course you would need a basis to judge these people which were brought forth in front of this panel of 'gatekeepers'.. say we made each new user fill out an extensive form asking questions of their bodybuilding knowledge? What you would have in the end is a msg board one like this without 'newbies', a discussion forum where intelligent questions could be asked and ideas could be exchanged. On top of the NUV system, I am going to implement IP checking for all current users and new users - so for those that are coming in from a static IP - well once their class of IP's was blocked, they would never again be allowed to apply.. Guys it's coming, I am going to try and revolutionize web based discussion board systems.. if I am succesful what we will have is a system that is free of shitty users, and the number of UNWANTED users (scammers, uncovers, etc.)on any given system using the software will be drastically reduced. Sounds like UBB with a Karma Hack installed. Why re-invent the wheel? Purchase an updated license for UBB, hit up a board like UBBDEV and just copy/paste your ideas. Someone's already thought of them. As for IP checking, what about those using DHCP? Pubert | ||

Or you could let the serious guys enter the Elite Select site and leave the ones messing the board up right here. Further more if anybody fools around too much on the Select board you could transfer him back to the usual board. ------------------ Don't look back, life is too short | ||

A lot of the scammers would still get in though - most of them tend to be fairly knowledgeable. Also, what about the genuine ones who want to learn but have very little knowledge? I think we should just accept that in order for a board to work it has to be 'open' and yes there will be idiots get in. However the mods here do a very good job. This is still a great site and it is free.....what more could you want? | ||

I love the board I have vbulletin is the bomb its not as custimizable for novice but it works for me... b

I recieved an email from this web site and it went into a long analogue about customs and the FBI breaking down doors and how they can break into your email accounts ect., then they went on to say that they are working with hush mail as to make this board safer to talk freely about AS- i briefly scimmed the article but weren't they saying that they are working to do many of the same ideas as you are- well besides keeping ignorant people from joining? |
