how come when you go to the doctors for injections, they just wipe you down with alcohol, and stick that needle in your ass like it's no thing? No pulling back on the plunger or anything. Sometimes when I shoot myself on my left side it's hard for me to pull back the plunger, and see the syringe at the same time. How important is it really, and what are the chances of hitting a vein in the glute? ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Well, i think its important... As of the Doc. they have been doing injections for many of years, and they proberly can give injections with there eyes close. Its better to be safe than sorry. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

You need to aspirate every time you inject. PERIOD. You don't need to force the plunger back very far at all. If you're in a vein, any movement of that plunger rearward will draw blood into the syringe. It takes merely a second to aspirate, and even though IM (intra muscular) injections seldom hit veins, it's better to check rather than give flood your bloodstream with oils and even worse, if it's a fake, dirty unsanitized shit. ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

If you hit a vein, you will be able to tell with pulling the plunger back at the slightest of a movement. You then will see the tiny red looking bubbles. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Truley not a matter of life or death so to speak, but it is all around a good practice to get used to and only takes a second.. ![]() ![]() ![]()

It is rare to hit one in the glute, but I have done it once. Best to be safe than sorry. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

what should you do if you hit a vein then aspirate and draw blood? do you move to a different spot, take the whole thing out and throw it away, cry like a bitch, i mean what are you suppose to do? can you still inject the fluid if there is blood in the syringe? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

If you do see blood, pat yourself on the back for not taking any chances... pull out the sharp pointy thing and stick it in a new spot and inject... I'd get the blood out first though. Years back, I drew back some blood and re-located the needle. Don't forget to aspirate on the second stick! Kdog ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

YEAH ITS HARD TO ASPIRATE, I DO IT MOST OF THE TIMES, SOMETIMES I DONT, BUT I ALWAYS INJECT IN THE GLUTE AND ITS HARD TO FIND MANY VEINS THERE. ![]() ![]() ![]()

I did it once in my glute as well. Pulled the needle out, used some alcohol to clean the needle, then re-inserted into another spot. ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

i have taken over 400 shots, probably more and I have never pulled back on the plunger. I have never had a problem except for once when I had to use a 3/4 needle in my shoulder. Im not saying that its right to do it that way or even advising newbies to not pull back, just laying down the facts. ![]() ![]() ![]()

I am a very cautious person, so I always pull back on the plunger everytime. ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

it's not hard to pull back dude. If you see blood pull out and try again. It's okay that it's in the needle, it's yours. Also I would not try and clean the needle. You should have swabbed the area before you injected and you insides are sterile (hopefully). If you happen to get a little bit of the cleaning cloth stuck in the needle it could cause a cist to form when you put it in your ass...no fun! Just pull out, find a new spot, clean it and try again. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Just 3 days ago I aspirated blood during a quad injection. It was my first time ever hitting a vein. I pulled out, purged the blood out the pin, reswabbed the quad and injected 1 inch over. No problem at all. Think about this, dentist stick your gums several times with novacain using the same needle as do doctors numbing a site for stiches and minor surgery. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

how important is your life? ------------------ "I used to be a diabetic 'till i kicked it." "May all of your showers be golden." - Jerri Blank "I cried when I had no shoes, until I met a man who had no feet. Then I laughed...really hard." ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

On my first cycle I'd say I hit a vien 3 out of 16 shots. Good thing I pulled back on the plunger. I hate having to pull out the needle and restick myself, especially when I'm using the needles that came with my sustonon redi-jects "Whale Harpoons" hehe. What I do to ensure that I pull back every time. I have a friend who "spots" me while I shoot. I stick the needle in, he pulls back and checks for blood, then I finish it off. Makes injecting so much easier!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I will NEVER fail to aspirate after my last injection. It's just common sense and so easy. Like wearing a seatbelt and having an airbag. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

this is a typical dumb question that should be taken off the boards ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Quite the contrair', This is not a dumb question. People ask these questions to avoid any serious injury. Sure, they can avoid 80 Percent of these questions by doing a search, but I wouldnt knock anybody. That being said, I want to give a shoutout to all the people who rough through all the common posts and actually give good advice. ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

no shit, if it weren't for people like musclebound who help out the newbies in here, i would have screwed up on a thing or two for sure when i first started injecting. you can research and read all you want, but it's more comfortable, for me anyway, to hear advice from actual people that have dealt with certain problems/questions. bump ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]()

look it I know it's important to pull back on the plunger, and I can find that out on search, but my question was why don't they do it at the doctors office. Hey if you don't want to answer the question fine, but don't say I'm asking some meaningless question that's already been asked 1000 times. ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

They do...okay? Ask them next time you go in. I used to be in EMS years ago and trust me, after giving tons of injections it is very routine and quick & easy to aspirate. Keep in mind that when you're giving yourself an injection you're in an awkward position which inhibits your movement. On the otherhand, if you're giving someone a shot it is very easy after you dart the needle in to pull the plunger back in one movement as you press it in. Like I said in my previous post, IF YOU ARE IN A VEIN, ANY MOVEMENT OF THAT PLUNGER REARWARD WILL DRAW BLOOD INTO THE SYRINGE. ANY MOVEMENT. You would be surprised how quickly blood will fill the syringe. When a medical professional gives a shot (1 of thousands they have given) they do it in one movement as the press the plunger. Why is this a topic? Ask them next time if you don't believe it. ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
